4660.0. "Purveyor hangs" by ANIMLZ::DUBE (http://animlz.alf.dec.com/home.html) Thu May 08 1997 16:01

I am still experiencing hangs with Purveyor as I noted this past January. I
    have upgraded UCX to V4.1 and it doesn't seem to hang as much, but the
    problem persists.
    Anyone else seeing this? Is there a newer version of Purveyor coming
    soon for VAX/VMS?

Note 4417.2 Purveyor V1.1B for OpenVMS VAX 2 of 2

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Does anyone know if there is some sort of problem with Purveyor V1.1B
    when accessing web pages with frames? I am in the process of modifying
    a page to include 4 frames. After I make several changes to the html
    files, I do a reload to view the results. After doing this several
    times (varies so far from 2 to many times), the server appears to get
    hung up and the page doesn't get reloaded. If I stop and restart
    Purveyor, the problem gets cleared up for awhile.

    My target page consists of:

    <html>
                      <head>
                       <title>A</title>
                      </head>
                      <frameset cols="33%,*,*,*">
                       <frame src="dec.htm" name="dec">
                       <frame src="nws.htm" name=nws>
                       <frame src="sea.htm" name="search">

    Maybe I'm the only one running Purveyor or VAX/VMS? How bout this
    question: Is Process going to come out with a newer version that will
    run on VAX/VMS? I noticed that there is a V1.2 available for Alpha/VMS.

V1.2 is available for both VAX and Alpha in the Internet Product Suite CD's

It doesn't appear that Danny has done anything to make it available on the
IBG software distribution server (or perhaps he can't do it with this version).

It looks like the big change in V1.2 is SSL.

        Do the licenses that we have been using for internal use of
        the earlier Purveyor servers apply to the V1.2 servers?

I don't know... I have been afraid to try.

Perhaps Danny could chime in?

	Unless they've chnaged the license (unlikely in my opinion) then it
  should work.  Try it.

	I'm not updating the the IBG Software Distribution Server with newer
  Purveyor kits since I'm no longer actively dealing with Purveyor. If someone
  has a kit they want to make available I can put it there. Note, however, I
  will NOT make available the Encrypt product without more paperwork since as
  far as I'm aware, we do not have an agreement in place with Process Software
  to resell or redistribute it. Furthermore there are Export issues that MUST
  be addressed with that software.

        We distribute Purveyor Encrypt WebServer V1.2 on the OpenVMS
        Internet Product Suite CD.

        There even appears to be a PAK for it. (Its termination date
        has already passed, at least on the January CD.)

    Getting back to my problem:

    Is ANYONE else running this software on a VAX/VMS system today?

    Can anyone give me some troubleshooting tips on this to check?

    Stopping and restarting Purveyor always fixes it, but it will hang again
    eventually.

    It's very persistant, even when I'm not doing a reload at short
    intervals.

    Help, please?
