4654.0. "WEB ROOT IS BUSY - PLEASE TRY AGAIN - ?? does it mean ??" by HLFS00::ERIC_S (Eric Sonneveld MCS - B.O. IS Holland) Wed May 07 1997 10:02

    Using Microsoft Internet Server i did use a seach function on the web.
    In fact i used the Search WebBOT.

    For me (as WEB administrator) the function works ok, but most users get
    the error message:

    WEB ROOT IS BUSY
    PLEASE TRY AGAIN

    In the event log I find the same (kind off) error:

    Microsoft FromPage Server Extensions:
      Error #90009 Message: Web Root is busy. Please try again.

    What does this exacly mean and what can I do to solve it ?

see what the permissions are for the pages/directories in your "web";
this message has meant for me (in other situations) that someone had
set them incorrectly.

4654.2Solved - but why entering search data twice for one answer ?HLFS00::ERIC_SEric Sonneveld MCS - B.O. IS HollandFri May 09 1997 06:2113
    This was indeed the problem. Thanks.

    I noticed btw another strange thing:
    One always need to provide a query twice to the search window. The
    first returns rather fast and does not tell anything- it clears the box
    A second qeury (with different or the same query) returns the results.

    Is this 'suspected' behaviour ?

    If your want to give it a try : use the search button on

if I had an account there, I would :-)

4654.4Every digital employee should have a digitalx accountHLFS00::ERIC_SEric Sonneveld MCS - B.O. IS HollandFri May 09 1997 09:118
    it's accessable for every DIGITAL1/2/3 account.
    MSIE provides its credentials automaticly (if setup proxy server to
    exclude *.dec.com) netscape needs user/passw in the form of
    digital1\username in the userbox.

    Don't you have a Digitalx account ?

    I've got a Digital1 account, yes, but that wasn't at all obvious that's
    what it wanted.

    Anyway... off to try it.

    Well, I note that it points at a different page in the middle...
    your search button points at
     http://www-mcs.uto.dec.com/searchal.htm
    which I fill in and hit [start search] which jumps to
     http://www-mcs.uto.dec.com/_vti_bin/shtml.dll/searchal.htm

    Re .0 I created a case for it on MS web response support. Keep you
    posted.
