4640.0. "PERL/ODBC on Alpha/NT ??" by HGOVC::DONWONG () Wed Apr 30 1997 06:43

I have a partner developed an Intranet/WEB application using the PERL
with ODBC module on an Intel/NT platform. They are now planning to
    their application to Alpha/NT platform.

Is the PERL with ODBC module available on Alpha/NT?

    Thanks
    Don

Just get the ODBC module sources and recompile. Perl IS available for
Alpha. There are a number of other development tools available for Web to
Database development work. If they are going to be using this in production
I would recommend different tools. Perl is useful for prototyping and initial
development, but I would not want to have to maintain it and deal with the
performance issues under a heavy load.

I have a compiler for Alpha NT to build the module if you need it.

PERL is available on Alpha. ODBC drivers are available also.
Have you tried searching with Altavista and Altavista Notes
	first?

He's asking for something slightly different: the PERL Interface
  module to ODBC.

    Danny,

Can you give me a pointer where I can get the ODBC module source and
the compiler that you mentioned? BTW, is the compiled version that I
    can use?

    Thanks

You have this backward. YOU need to tell me where the ODBC module
source is, and then I can compile it and give you the resultant images.

    Danny,

I have found the ODBC module source. It is available at

    ftp://ftp.digital.com/pub/plan/perl/CPAN/modules/by-module/Win32/

I'll look at it sometime next week once the Internet Roadmap CD has
  gone to press.
