Are there any plans to have a Mac client for the AltaVista Tunnel?

Not really. We'd like to but we don't have the requisite expertise.

    That is a solvable problem.

We're talking to a few third parties to do this port and give us the follow-on
support we'd need. I know progress has been slow, but it's on the list.

Thursby has done work for Digital in the past. They supplied the
DECnet for Mac client and in a former life Bill Thrusby was a Digital
    Employee (long ago).

Anyway if you are not already talking to Thrusby and you are
interested, and you would like to talk to someone with first hand
experience dealing with Thrusby Systems, then contact Eirikur
Hallgrimsson (RANGER::EH). Eirikur was the PATHWORKS contact working
    with Thrusby Systems.

Thanks, Bob! I've passed this along to the engineering manager and product
manager.

If you haven't already been here, Network TeleSystems Inc
(www.nts.com) has a product called TunnelBuilder for Mac, that looks to
be not too far from what's needed.

I think they were mentioned in the Macintosh conference, but I just saw
something about them that reminded me of this note. So I thought I'd
    enter it here.

NTS makes a PPTP client for Macintosh. They also have a PPTP client
for Windows 95 that is available for download. At this time, there
isn't much call for PPTP clients within Digital since there are no
PPTP servers that I know of. And since they require UDP through
the firewall, there probably won't be any in the near future.

Mainly I was offering them as a name to contact as a partner to create
a Mac tunnel client for Digital. It would seem they have the skills.
