4619.0. "Printing color to color laser printer??" by DYOSW5::WILDER (Does virtual reality get swapped?) Thu Apr 17 1997 16:18

We have in this office, an LSR2000 printer (a Digital Color Laser
Printer). When we use Internet Explorer, we can send color text and
graphics to the printer and it works fine. However, Netscape V3 will
only print color text. The graphics come out grayscale. Now, if we
print to a color ink jet printer, all is fine with Netscape.

Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions on what to do? This is one of
the strangest things I have seen. And no, we do not really want to use
IE. In this office, we have standardized on Netscape.

    Thanks,

    /jim

On what operating system are you running Netscape Navigator?

What version of printer software are you running? (It's displayed on the page
that's printed when you power on the printer.)

If it's V1.0, order part number LNC1X-CF to upgrade to V2.01. You will need a
CD-ROM drive to connect to the printer for this upgrade.

If it's V2.01, get the latest software from our Web page
( http://www.printers.digital.com ) and upgrade to V2.1.

The new software may help with your problem, although I've personally seen and
heard of problems printing color from Netscape Navigator.

    re: -1

    Sorry.

OS, well it has always worked fine when printing from Netscape on a
DUNIX system. Where we have problems is when printing from a PC with
Windows95 and printing through the UNIX Printserver (we don't have IPX
    on our PCs).

As far as "version of software", the only thing I see from the startup
page is: "Adobe Postscript Level 2, V2013.114"

Other than that, there is no "version" information. NOTE: This is a
Colorwriter LSR2000, not the + variant.

We did come up with a workaround...in the Printer Properties, under the
Device Options, we forced the Printer Features Color Mode to CMYK,
instead of Printer's Default. This seems to work for Netscape, until we
print color via MS Word. Then we have to set it to CMYK again (even
though the features are CMYK, we must "reset" them again).

If the above Adobe info is NOT the printer software version, how else
can we find the version? I have the start-up page in front of me, and I
    don't see anything else.

    Thanks for your help.

You have a Colorwriter LSR 2000 running V1.0 software. There have been a number
of fixes in V2.01 (which is the upgrade to the 2000+) and V2.1. It is worth
your while to perform this upgrade. The cost of the LNC1X-CF kit is $159 list.
