4562.0. "ELF and Netscape LDAP queries" by NETRIX::"[email protected]" (dave rockwell) Sat Mar 22 1997 14:53

I hear that ELF is LDAP compliant.
Would it take much work for us to be able to use ELF
as dec address book for Netscape Mail (upcoming communicator?)

MS Exchange is a pain in the butt.
But a large company wide address book is nice.

I can get the info from ELF
but it would be nice to use it directly from the mail client.

Alternatively, is there any plans to load a netscape directory server
with an ELF feed? Would this be a better plan than asking the
ELF folks to do something?

You can configure netscape to use the LDAP server that sits behind ELF,
unfortunately not much info is displayed (eg no email address!), when
    you do a lookup.

I have no idea where the problem lies.

4562.2ELF needs a schema updatePARZVL::ogodhcp-125-112-212.ogo.dec.com::kennedynuncam non paratusWed Apr 02 1997 20:0110
the reason you won't see much info
from the Netscape client is that the
schemas don't match. The schema defines
the attributes and the client and
server must agree.

I believe the ELF team is aware of
this, though I'm not sure how/when
it will be resolved (since we have
our current clients to consider, also)
