4552.0. "Feedback/Reporting Problems with Netscape Products on Digital Unix and NT/Alpha Platforms" by GYRO::CAETANO (Greg Caetano ZKO2-2M17 381-1338) Tue Mar 18 1997 15:57

During the weekly teleconference between Digital and Netscape, the teams
discussed the amount of feedback/reporting of different issues/user
errors etc for the Netscape products on Digital Unix and NT/Alpha
platforms.

While this notes conference has provided an enormous support to
our user community, Netscape has been somewhat shielded by the
scope of our discussions. We would like to share these discussions
with their technical teams.

Netscape is looking for sites to help do some beta testing/certification
of their products on different configurations of our platforms
(ie: os versions, hardware variations, interoperability scenarios).

If you have any sites that wish to do more testing of the
Netscape products please forward contact information and
Account team information to our Netscape representatives.

Additionally any feedback/problem reporting from internal users
should be directed to Netscape as well. If you are testing beta
copies of the software please use the reporting mechanism mentioned
in the README files of the beta software. If you are using released
products contact Chuck Lynch ([email protected]) or Kelly Lucas
([email protected]) for technical support.

You also may wish to wish the Netscape Newsgroups located on
secnews.netscape.com or their online tech support pages
http://help.netscape.com. The process for accessing the newsgroups
is documented on their help page.

Digital's relationship with Netscape also provides other access
points to information (your hostname must resolve back to a
dec.com or digital.com hostname/proxyhost in order to connect):

Digital Unix and NT/Alpha Platforms much easier.

Subject: Letter of Authorization for Digital to Recruit Beta Sites for Netscape Products

                                                April 1, 1997

Rita Yavinsky
Digital Equipment Corporation

Rita:

In order to ensure high product quality, thorough beta testing is needed
on each platform for which Netscape releases product. Digital has
knowledge of sites using the Digital platforms which may be appropriate
as beta participants. Therefore, it is both acceptable to Netscape and
desirable by Netscape that Digital recruit Beta sites for Netscape
products on Digital UNIX and NT Alpha platforms. Netscape will notify
Digital as to which of the Digital recruited sites are included in a
particular beta program prior to the start of the program.

Sincerely,
Doreen Weiss
