4486.0. "Problems with WEB_AUTHORING notes file?" by CRONIC::LEMONS (And we thank you for your support.) Tue Feb 18 1997 17:02

    Hi

Is anyone else having problems reaching the COSME3::WEB_AUTHORING notes
file? I've been getting 'Network partner exited' and other errors for
    the past week or so.

I don't see this announced in the EASYNOTES_CONFERENCES notes file, so
thought I'd ask here, given the common readership.

    Thanks!

It's been down for me, as well.

There is a problem with the host node; this happens quite regularly.
Unfortunately, the system management on that node is part-time at best,
and we're having trouble tracking the person down. The original host
    has left the company.

The good news is that I've found a new home for the conference, but
require access to COSME3 to move it. Unless and until, etc...

    Cheers, Laurie.

Bet it will be faster once it's moved, huh? :-)

It has moved to TERRI::WEB_AUTHORING. It's not terribly fast, though...

COSME3:: is in RHC, and TERRI is in REO, which are both in the
UK I believe (I know REO is at least :-), so for us in the States
those bits have to travel back and forth across the Atlantic :-(

Those of us on the other side of the Pacific from "the" States don't sympathise
at all...

TERRI and COSME3 are in the UK. TERRI is a very small machine, but some
access is better than no access. In the case of COSME3, not only was it
prone to dropping notes connectivity, but the system mangler was very
hard to reach. I agree it's not ideal, but it's all we have at the
    moment.

    Cheers, Laurie.
4486.8And of course, COSME3 is suddenly available!PCBUOA::BAYJJim, PortablesThu Feb 20 1997 16:0211
Figures that COSME3 is now up an accessible.

If TERRI is going to be the new home, it might be a good idea to add a
pointer to the COSME3 version, and write-lock it. Because of
write-only noters, sync problems often result in such situations.

As of now, the conference is still writable. I'll crosspost this note
    there.

I've responded to this off-line. I can't set my mod privs on COSME3
presumably because it's not recognising VAXCAT properly. Whenever I do
get proper access, I'll rip the lot out, and leave a stub.

    Cheers, Laurie.

If you are looking for a home, I'm sure Matt would love to
adopt (I mean host on his server) yet another conference ....

	So can it soon be:

	    humane::web_authoring (or [email protected])

	??

It's only empirical evidence, but I thought _all_ notes conferences
were moving to either NOTED:: or HUMANE::. :-)
