Hi, can I use DNS without having a connection to the internet ? (I won't have any root-Domain servers). I think it should work, but I am not sure ? Any experience ? Thanks Torsten [Posted by WWW Notes gateway]

There is nothing special about root servers, except that they're configured to give authoritative answers for the root domain (whose name is .). However, if you configure your server to be a root server, you will be in for a period of difficulty if you ever actually do connect to the real internet.
