2925.19Macintosh tunnel, please!FUNYET::ANDERSONExchange *this*Mon Apr 14 1997 18:469
I would like to suggest that a Macintosh version of the tunnel be created. I
know that internal requests do not carry the weight of external customers, but
there are a lot of us who want and need this functionality.

Note 934 in the Macintosh conference (HUMANE::MACINTOSH or
[email protected]) is showing a lot of interest from Digital
employees.

At the IETF last week I talked to people who write the Mac TCP (Open Transport)
code about this very subject to get a handle on how much work it would be.

Apart from the UI work (which would be completely different), the environment
is basically streams so if one got an engine running on SVR4 (say UnixWare
or Solaris), the port to OpenTransport would be relatively straight forward.

That doesn't mean it'll done but it was an interesting point.
