Hi, A client has two AlphaServer 4100s with Windows NT 4.0 and Digital Clusters for Windows NT 1.1. DECNSR 4.3 server is on one of the Cluster member (serverA) and hosts a DLT drive. NSR client is on the other Cluster member (serverB). Both serverA and serverB host cluster disks. ServerA's local and cluster disks can be backed up ok using a scheduled backup job. The client wants to back up serverB using the NSR Server Admin scheduling features, but if a job is scheduled in this way only the LOCAL disks on serverB are backed up. He can only backup the cluster disks hosted by serverB if he runs the NSR client on serverB - a manual process. Is there a difference in the way the client and server identify "local" disks? Should he expect it to work to a "remote" cluster node? Do the cluster disks look like "network drives" to the DECNSR client, perhaps, but not to the server? Any feedback would be appreciated. [cross posting to networker]. Thanks & regards, Adrian Moore Sydney CSC Out of my depth and floating away... [Posted by WWW Notes gateway]

You should ask this question in the decwet::networker notes conference, since it seems like a NetWorker problem. You can use a command line program, "savefs -vpp" I think, to see what the NetWorker client will backup on a scheduled save. Yes, the networker client only backs up what it thinks are local disks on a server-initiated backup (as long as the saveset is "All"). In the case of a disk on a share bus that is currently accessible to a system, networker SHOULD see the disk as accessible and local. Mark |
