| NT 4.0 sp3 is required for NetBT file share failover. NT 4.0 sp3 allows standard
browsing tools like explorer to enumerate "cluster virtual servers". The client
displays these NetBIOS names as a server in the Microsoft Network.

| Specifically, does the introduction of SP3 cause the V1.1 product
to crash or behave badly ?

| The file share failover support in Service pack 1 for V1.1 of DC requires NT 4.0
SP3.

We have the NT40 SP3 installed on our DIGITAL Cluster V1.1 and it's running
without problems.

818.5 | Appears Stable | ACISS2::SDATZMAN | | Mon Jun 02 1997 12:24 | 8 |
| Thanks. We have been successfully running 4.0/SP3 for a week or
so now, and it does appear to be stable with DC V1.1.
Note: The SP3 download from the Microsoft web (for Alpha) appeared
to overwrite the (AS4100) HAL with version 4.0. The latest version
is 4.0b, which we had to manually replace after SP3 installation.

818.6 | HAL in SP3 fixes STOP errors on NT MP-systems ! | BACHUS::CAERELS | | Tue Jun 03 1997 09:58 | 8 |
| In fact the HAL for 4100 which is part of the SP3 kit contains bug
fixes (Q156410 - STOP 0x1E or 0x50 Error on Multiprocessor DEC Alpha
Computer). This hal has a more recent creation date then the one in
4.0b. Is the fix included in 4.0B or are fixes from 4.0B included in
SP3 ? Which one should we install ?
