782.0. "Does NT Cluster V1.1 Require A NT 4.0 PDC" by PRMS01::HCARTER (M. Hill Carter @DTN 339-7781) Thu May 01 1997 17:31

    Does NT Clusters V1.1 require that the NT PDC and BDC's be
    upgraded to NT V4.0?

    I have a customer who has a NT3.51 PDC and wants to run
    NT Cluster V1.1 and claims he saw this requirement in the
    configuration guide.

    Thanks in advance for any help,

    Hill...

It is not stated in the guide but I believe it should be fine as it
will be basically used for controlling access right.

782.2Page 1-9 Of Configuration Guide Implies NT 4.0 for PDCPRMS01::HCARTERM. Hill Carter @DTN 339-7781Wed May 07 1997 09:493
    Page 1-9, Windows NT Configuration Rules, implies that the
    nodes in the NT Cluster and PDC for the domain that the cluster
    is in must be at NT 4.0 SP 2 for NT Cluster 1.1.

Clusters V1.1 requires Windows NT V4.0.

However, Clusters V1.0 with its latest service pack
runs on Windows NT3.51.

The biggest difference between Clusters 1.0 and Clusters
1.1 is support for IP failover (only available in Clusters
Version 1.1).

If the customer wants the latest bug fixes and SQL-related
enhancements and wants to remain on NT351, they can.

Hope this helps!
