762.0. "SQL and 1.1 possible corruption of data ..." by LEXSS1::lexser8.lex.dec.com::lombardi (PCBU Technical Support) Tue Apr 22 1997 17:31
I have a customer with the following problems pertaining to SQL on
Clusters 1.1(SSB). I have not seen this first hand, and am taking the
customer's word for this. However, I did not notice this with the beta
for 1.1.
1. They have set up SQL Server on both of the computers
in the Cluster to start as Manual.
But when either of the computers are brought on line, It appears
that SQL server gets started on both the computers.(??)
In this situation, the database that they created, gets corrupted as
a result of initiating a Manual Failover.
2. If they stop the SQL Server Service in Failover computer, then the
Cluster manager does not start on the Primary computer. It appears
that SQL server needs to be started on both hosts for the Cluster
Administrator to work.
Before I go out and investigate this, I just wanted to know if anyone has
seen anything resembling this. I thought that SQL in 1.1 could be started
either manually or automatically. I know in 1.0, it needed to be started
manually.
Thanks in advance,

762.1 | Service Pack 3 fixed the problem ... | LEXSS1::lexser9.lex.dec.com::lombardi | PCBU Technical Support | Mon Jun 02 1997 13:51 | 6 |
| It turns ouyt that they were using Clusters 1.0 with NT 3.51 with Clusters
SP 2. When I loaded SP 3 for Clusters 1.0, it fixed the problem.
