Hi, Recently I am trying to install NT Cluster V1.1 on AlphaServer1000A 4/266 and AlphaServer4000 5/400 clustered to an Raid Array 410. Initally it is running NT Cluster v1.0 with SQL database on WinNT 3.51 on both AlphaServer 1000A 4/266. The customers bought an AlphaServer 4000 and wanted it tocluster to one of the AlphaServer 1000A and take out the other server. What I did was uninstall the Cluster s/w and then upgrade one of the AlphaServer 1000A to Windows NT 4.0 with Service pack 2.0. the AlphaServer 4000 has winNT 4.0 with Service pack 2.0 loaded too. Next, I also updated the hszdisk.sys to ver 3.2 using the Cluster V1.1 cdrom on both Server. I have problems trying to get the cluster up. I select the Cluster administartion menu and the system start trying to get connect to the remote server and then gives a time out message. As I look through the event viewer, it say Digital Cluster Name Service services hung. I have followed exactly the steps to install the cluster v1.1 but it just could not get it up. The AlphaServer 1000A 4/266 is running ARC firmware 4.46 and the AlphaServer 4000 5/400 is running Alpha BIOS 5.28. I also get some error message on the console of AlphaServer 1000A which say: SCSI(1)other(6)other(0) KZPSX Devices detected but not supported by firmware Does it got to do with the firmware ? But in the Digital Cluster V1.1 installation manual, it stated that the min requirement ARC firmware for AlphaServer 1000A is V4.46 and AlphaServer 4000 is V4.44.0. Any clues or advise how I should resolve the above problems ? Thanks

Did you make sure that the SCSI ids for the host adapters are not conflicting? tgc | |||||

> 5.28. I also get some error message on the console of AlphaServer 1000A > which say: > SCSI(1)other(6)other(0) KZPSX > Devices detected but not supported by firmware The kzpsa supports target mode and this device could be the other initiator on the bus. If that's the case, the error message makes sense. The other issue is that the 1000A has a PCI-to-PCI bridge. THe kzpsa is not supported behind this bridge. I think this is slots 4-7 though I'm not sure. |
