| A hard disk is the only currently supported device on a shared SCSI
bus; i.e., tapes and CD's are not supported. You should probably be
looking at network CD servers.

749.2 | So, how can I "propose" 30 CD Online | NNTPD::"[email protected]" | Milan ZOFKA | Fri Apr 18 1997 05:43 | 21 |
| If it's impossible to provide 30 CD on the shared SCSI bus, I may put 15 CD on
each server
It mean that if one server disapear, one half of the CD's are still
available...
BUT: Is it possible to share the disks on the CLUSTER ALIAS name
How can I map theses 2*15 letters... A software that group several
SCSI CD
to one letter would be great, but ON ALPHA...
What is currently the best choice? any idea of one software supported on NT
Alpha
with clusters? (example: microtest own a solution of CD towers (Discport
product))
Thank you for your prompt reply
Milan

I just saw that we now support the infoserver on NT. That gives you
the ability to have network-based CDs. I don't have the details, but
a little searching might turn something up.

749.4 | sharing Infoserver CD-ROMs | TROOA::MSCHNEIDER | [email protected] | Fri Apr 18 1997 20:58 | 7 |
| If you install PATHWORKS 32 on NT Server 4.0 you have the ability to
connect to the Infoserver CD-ROM drives .... these in turn can be
shared like any other drive on the NT server. This eliminates the
requirement for each client to have the LAD/LAST protocols to talk
directly to the Infoserver.
Nice feature for those who have the Infoserver in their shops.

| Another solution might be to add a couple 4GB disks to the shared storage,
and then copy the contents of the CDROMs to directories on these disks
(CDROM <= 600MB --> 11 CD's <= 6.6GB)
