A potential NT Cluster customer plans to run PeopleSoft / SQL 6.5 on an Intel cluster. They need to run a product called SQR and Tuxedo. They will move to SQL 7.0 as it becomes available (and cluster aware). Their intent is to move to Wolfpack when it becomes feasible. Our proposed configuration is 2 SMP Prioris servers (forgot the model numbers) clustered with RA450 shared storage (perhaps even dual HSZ50). The customer has some concerns and questions. They are: 1. Do we know if anyone has scripted TUXEDO failover in a Digital NT Cluster? Same question for Wolpack. 2. How soon after Wolfpack ships will we qualify the RA450 on Intel for Wolfpack? 3. Will Digital Cluster for NT support SQL 7.0? 4. Has anyone used SMS to install the Digital Cluster client bits? Customer has about 1000 clients. Thanks! Gary [email protected]

1. Do we know if anyone has scripted TUXEDO failover in a Digital NT Cluster? Same question for Wolpack. We have not tested TUXEDO on Digital Clusters. Don't know if anyone has done it for Wolfpack. 2. How soon after Wolfpack ships will we qualify the RA450 on Intel for Wolfpack? Depends on what the PCBU server group wants to do. Should be no problem, but official certification is another story. 3. Will Digital Cluster for NT support SQL 7.0? Probably not. By the time SQL 7.0 is released, Wolfpack will be the NT Cluster platform of choice. (Even from Digital.) 4. Has anyone used SMS to install the Digital Cluster client bits? I'm not aware of anyone trying that. If clients connect to the server using TCP/IP sockets, and not named pipes, then you don't need to install the cluster client software on 1000 clients. With Digital Clusters 1.1 SP1 (due to ship soon), clients will also be able to use TCP/IP to connect to file shares without any special client software. | |||||
