693.1 | No special SYBASE failover DLL | DECWET::CAPPELLOF | My other brain is a polymer | Mon Mar 17 1997 18:00 | 2 |
| We did not do anything to support SYBASE in Digital Clusters for
Windows NT V1.1. Do you have a customer demand?

| Sybase should be able to be failed over via a script. Although not officially supported,
it was demonstrated at the last comdex. When writing the script keep in mind that the
"failover manager" does not have rights to interact with the desktop. So if the Sybase
application requires this, you will need to write the script so that a service like srvany
actually starts the .bat file.

693.3 | 1.1 EMC and Sybase | IJSAPL::utoras-198-48-158.uto.dec.com::WorkBenchUser | | Tue Apr 08 1997 17:06 | 10 |
| Our customer wants and SYBASE in the Netherlands wants to know everything
about 1.1.
They bought 1.1 with ALPHA's and EMC"2 storage. Works great.! No support but
EMC convinced them.
Now Sybase is making an application and also works with us to know more.
cheers

693.4 | Cluster engineering has not tried Sybase | DECWET::CAPPELLOF | My other brain is a polymer | Tue Apr 08 1997 20:37 | 7 |
| I'm glad the EMC storage works for your customer. We certainly don't
support it!
We don't know much about Sybase. It might be possible to set up a
Digital NT Cluster to start/stop the Sybase service during a failover
using the failover script capability. Maybe someone else in the world
has tried it?
