672.0. "Names need to be unique in 1st eight characters" by CIVPR1::SIMMONS (Mike Simmons (301) 918-5597) Tue Mar 04 1997 14:56

I apologize for starting a new note, but remember reading a note stating that
either the server name or cluster name should be unique in the first 8
characters. I can't find the note now! If anyone knows what I'm talking
about, please provide me with more details and/or point me to the note(s)
regarding this requirement.

Thanks.

1.4 Cluster Names Must Be Unique
-----------------------------------------------
The names you assign to different clusters in the same LAN must
be unique within the first eight characters. Otherwise,it is
possible for one cluster to see resources owned by another. For
example, the names CLUSTER1 and CLUSTER2 are valid; CLUSTER1A
and CLUSTER1B are not.
