Is NT cluster using Reverse arp to notify stations on the LAN that the IP address that failed over is now hosted by a new MAC station ? If no, how will routers (for instance) be aware of the new mac address. A related question We have been testing IP failover on several clusters with no pb (using a WEB server). But now on a new cluster, we have to flush the arp table on the client to successfully reconnect to the web server The differences with the other working configurations are this new cluster and the NT 4.0 workstation are alone on the LAN the cluster is not running NT 4.0 Service Pack 2 (because it makes the system crash). Is service Pack 2 REALLY mandatory (this is not for a customer, this is just to understand) Chris

There was a bug in NT that this notification of other stations was not working prior to Service Pack 1 for 4.0. This is fixed in SP1 or later. We require SP2 for other IP failover APIs though so the version we require is SP2. Will |
