615.1 | My fault - sort of... | ADOV01::JARMAN | | Fri Feb 14 1997 08:14 | 22 |
| Sigh - why do simple things have to be so hard?
I didn't use the RA310 GUI software on my NT host because it refgused
to communicate with the RA10 at all. (I subsequently found something on
the storage WWW server which points out that this sw only runs on 3.51
of NT
After trying another machine , and using a standard copy of Kermit I
gave up tryingto use a terminal emulator on the serial port - it
continued to give the same error after the 28 min download
So I'vo downgraded my server back to 3.51, installed the GUI and the
firmware upgrade worked first time. The only thing I noticed was that
the inbuilt Kermit used a 94 byte block size on the ttransfer, all the
other Kermits I tried negotiated a 98 byte block size - so maybe the
transfer didn't really work right?
So now it's back to reinstalling NT4 so I cvan start installing the FT
kit of 1.1

I've use the procedure outlined in the storageworks raid array
installation guide for nt clusters using the terminal application
and clcp which worked just fine. You shouldn't have had to downgrade
to do this. Perhaps you should review the section of the manual
on the firmware upgrade to determine what is different.
I'll post a reply to note 6 for reference to this manual (and
others)

615.4 | Use Hyperterm | CIVPR1::SIMMONS | Mike Simmons (301) 918-5597 | Fri Mar 14 1997 22:36 | 3 |
| There is much discussion of this in the HSZ40 notes conference. Apparently,
there are problems using Keaterm's Kermit. Hyperterm was recommended. It
works well for me.
