Hi, we have installed a Ntcluster using two Prioris ZX 6000 and a Raid Array controller SWXCR. On the SWXCR we have configured two raidset of three phisical disk and every disk have the capacity of 2GB. I suppose that the raid type is the raid5. The SWXCR controller show us a capacity for every raidset of 8215924 blocks. Under Disk administrator I see: --------------------------------------------------------- Disk0 E: 4012 Mb Raid disk 5 NTFS 6019 Mb -------------------------------------------------------------- Software Versions: NT server 3.51 service pack 5 NT cluster 1.0 service pack 1 SWXRC software 2.7 1-Is the raid created a Raid5 ?(I don't have found any CLI commands to specified it during the Raid configuration) 2-Why the mismatch under disk administrator? The 4012 Mb should be correct (thinking to the parity...) but why I see also the 6019 Mb ? Thanks in advance. Gabriele [Posted by WWW Notes gateway]

I'm not sure what is going on here. There was something posted recently about a new API called GetDriveFreeSpaceEx and that applications that did not use this new API might report erroneous free space sizes for large disks. Unless you already have data on the drive, I would suggest: Use disk administrator to delete all partitions on the drive Create one partition Format for NTFS See what you get Thanks, Will |
