I can't believe there isn't already a topic here for Dave's World! It's
been around for almost four years, hasn't it?
I haven't caught the show much since it moved to a different night (was
Wednesday, now Friday, right?) But we did watch it regularly when it
was on before Murphy Brown, and we are big fans of Dave Barry's column.
Can anyone tell me what happened to Dave and Beth (real life)? Hadn't
heard about her in the column for some time; then a column a few weeks
ago mentioned "my fiancee". Finally, last week's column mentioned "my
wife, Michelle." So I guess Beth is history, but I haven't heard the
circumstances.
Also, is the break-up reflected in the TV series? I know it is only
loosely based on Dave's life (for instance, there's an extra son), but
incidents from his real life do make it into the show. For instance,
when his son was hit by a car, that was the subject of a show (though
the story was altered somewhat).

I believe it was Nina Eppes that mentioned it in ::DAVE_BARRY,
when the break-up occurred. But she had no details, so I'd say
that none were available.

| All I know about Dave and Beth's break-up is what I posted in the
DAVE_BARRY notes file in Nov. 1994, which was a forwarded message
I received. (I forget the note number - open HYDRA::DAVE_BARRY and
do DIR/TITLE=separate and you'll find it.) I hesitate to cross-post
it here and continue a discussion that really belongs in the DAVE_BARRY
notes file. This topic should be be just about the TV show (which is
only loosely based on Dave's life and currently isn't reflecting any
marital problems with Beth).
And all I know about his new wife, Michelle, is what Dave has seen fit
to mention in his weekly columns, which .0 has already reported.
Perhaps a Web search on Dave Barry will turn up the sordid details. :-)
