360.0. "The INTERNET TV" by NEMAIL::TARDUGNOM () Fri Apr 07 1995 11:59

Anyone been out on the Internet to read about some of our favorite
shows? The X Files, VR.5, and a host of others are out there.

I logged in this morning for a few minutes (you need a TCP/IP
address, and install Netscape and your on...one of your system
    people can set you up)

I only spent a few minutes "surfing"...long enuf to Bookmark
The MOVIES conf., The TV conf., and look at Entertainment
Weekly Magazine in full color on line....it was ATOMIC!!!

Is it set up like this file? You find the conference for TV and
then they are listed? Or do you have to find each show separately?
I havne't tried Internet yet, but my husband has. What are the
    addresses?

    thanks,
    renee

If I understand what .0's talking about, the name of the General All
Purpose TV newsgroup (kind of a newsgroup version of this notesfile) is

    rec.arts.tv

There are lots of alt.tv.(name of show) groups too, devoted to various
    shows.

    (alt.tv.fraiser. alt.tv.seinfeld. alt.tv.er -- although I can't "get"
this one at work, I've read it at home. It's a busy group)

    And so on.

The whole "how do I read a newsgroup" discussion is probably best
suited for other places, but if you have a newsreader, you can usually
search for the groups, or a keyword like ".tv" and find all the
    TV-related groups.

    Cheers,

Netscape usually implies theses are WEB pages. Can you post the URLS?

    thanks!

Once I found them I Bookmarked them to quickly get to
them when I open up Netscape on my next trip out...You just select
what you added to your Bookmark (its on the top line drop down box)
I think I'm confused or we both are ha ha There are 2 gateways
DEC people can get out from (or so I read) BUT......
    what I did
was just spent 10 minutes hunting around carefully and then
voila! found the groups of shows under TV and then went to
find the Movie section and located Entertainment Weekly....I almost
don't know how I found them unless I'm sitting infront of my PC
and then I'd remember....(still a novice on the Net)

Its similar to this notes file and Netscape is so incredibly easy
to navigate that you will be astounded....I've had Mosaic since
last July but this is a Major improvement!
