Since this is called a "poll" vs. a "letter writing campain"
I sent in my opinion, which is that none of those shows are
worth saving. I suggest others do the same if you feel the
same to avoid a biased "poll".....

357.3 | EARTH 2 | PCBUOA::CHENARD | | Wed Apr 05 1995 01:55 | 6 |
| I already called the #900 number to save Earth 2 which I really
enjoy. I have never watched the other shows at all so can't say
if they are worth saving or not.

I just sent a fax that imo "My So-Called Life", "Earth 2", and "Under Suspicion"
were all worth saving, especially "My So-Called Life".

I e-mailed them regarding Earth 2. I don't know why, but I just love
that show.

guess I'll send something on Earth 2. It's a great show for early
Sunday.
Better than Seaquest which follows it.

I'm going to send in a vote for Earth 2 (and suggest they zap Seaquest)

357.8 | good calls (except maybe "So-Called Life") | APLVEW::DEBRIAE | | Thu Apr 06 1995 00:56 | 16 |

Sorry folks, they look like good calls to me, it matches my
viewing habits at least...
They can zap both SeaQuest and Earth2, pure drivel on both counts.
At least I can infer from the decision to pull Earth2 that its
ratings aren't high and I'm not the only person out there who
feels the show is low quality and extremely poor SF or even drama.
I never watch any of the shows on the list, so if they all went
it's no loss to me. Though I had heard that "So-Called Life" is
well regarded as a high quality show and very much liked by the
critics. But I have no idea when it's on and have never watched
it.

re .8
Apparently you have seen "Earth 2" but I'm curious as to why you think
cancelling "My So-Called Life" and "Under Suspicion" is the right decision
when you haven't seen them. I've seen pretty much every episode of both
and consider them head and shoulders above most television series. Most
high quality drama series (with occasional exceptions such as "ER" and
"NYPD Blue") will get low ratings, especially in their first seasons. But
a high quality drama will usually pick up viewers as it goes and sometimes
ends up in the top ten.

357.10 | only wrote in about "Earth2" though (don't care on rest) | APLVEW::DEBRIAE | | Fri Apr 07 1995 03:06 | 19 |

True, perhaps I'm not a valid person to say whether or not a show leaving is
good or bad if I don't regularly watch it to judge it using the fairest
extreme. I based my "fine by me" reaction solely on the fact that I don't
watch the shows, they don't interest me, so their leaving causes me no
grief. If my viewing habits match that of the larger audience, the networks
are making the right call (if no one is watching).
"So-Called Life" looked to be a high quality show in the critic clips and in
the half hour I watched it once, however shows based on high school life and
environments just don't hold my interest. Same with 90120. If they leave,
it doesn't affect me, it's not gripping drama (to me).
Everyone decried the fact that "I'll Fly Away" was cancelled. I agreed that
the show was very high quality, but I just didn't find the characters to be
compelling to me. I never watched it. I guess very few people did. And now
that it's back on PBS, I still don't watch it. CBS would have lost (on me).
