329.0. ""Late Late Show" with Tom Snyder" by NETRIX::michaud (Cosmo) Wed Jan 11 1995 02:31

Anyone else catch the 1st show?

As a high school kid I used to watch Tom when he did the "Tommorow"
show (exlains why I was always tired every morning). For you kids
that was before Letterman took over the timeslot (though if I remember
the timeslot was 1-2am seeing the "Tonight" show used to be 90
	minutes, ie. 11:30pm-1am).

I can't remember if the Tommorow show was aired live or not, but
Tom's new show here (on CBS right after Letterman) is. His first
guest was Candace Bergen (and Newt Gindgrichs parents via Satalite).

They also had a 800 number you could call in to ask questions (deja
vu Larry King). As I was watching I thought it would be neat to
call in and ask Candace about her appearance as a child with her
father on "You bet your life" (w/Groucho Marx) when Tom took a
phone call from someone asking that exact question!

Candace also kept asking Tom when Dave (Letterman) was going to
call in. Seems Dave used to call in to Tom's previous show
pretending to be some nut or something??

I've got Tom Snyder on one of the Cable Channels (CNBC???) in the
evening (somewhere between 8 and 11pm). I enjoy his show. He always has
some interesting guests. Would this be the same show being
    shown/repeated on late night TV???

329.3Tom does read his email!VAXCPU::michaudJeff Michaud - ObjectBrokerFri May 10 1996 02:3826
Well I'm not sure if anyone else in here ever catches this
show, but if you are, the show now has an email address
	which is:

		[email protected]

And FWIW, it does indeed get to Tom! During Wednesday's
Tom once again after finishing his monologue asked the
off screen "Mr. Kennedy" is everything was ready. So
I fired off an email asking Tom what would happen if
Mr. Kennedy said "no". Well I didn't get any reply via
email, but less than 24 hours later, Tom read my email
(and answered the question) on Tonight's (Thursday's) show!
And he "almost" pronounced my last name correctly.

BTW, on that same Wednesday show tom was interviewing the
President of the ACLU, and the topic of Web search engines
came up (in response to a phone call from a college student
who said if you search for Hillary Clinton, one of the matches
is the URL for a nude of the 1st Lady). Tom mentioned Yahoo,
but he also mentioned Alta-Vista (though he didn't mention
	Digital).

ps: to clarify something from .0. This show is indeed broadcast live
(not from tape) at around 12:36am. I believe the audio of the show
is also broadcast live on some radio network.
