| I've liked Jan Hooks in most things. However, the little bit that I
saw her in Martin Short's show, I thought she was "forcing" a bit. Of
course, that could be because the skits (the writing) were rather lame.

famous people but doesn't have the talent to sustain a character on
her own.

| I'm not sure I agree with that. I saw her a few times on Designing Women and
while I didn't like the show all that much she did her character well. The
problem was that their stories were not all that good and their lines were a
bit weak. Funny moments here and there but they never seemed to be able to keep
the quality up for an entire show.
Given a good script I believe she could do just about any character really
well. She does Nancy Reagan as well as anyone.
