Nominations for the 46th annual Emmy Awards were made today (July 21st).
The awards ceremony will be broadcast by ABC from the Pasadena Civic
Auditorium on September 11th. Technical awards will be presented in an
untelevised ceremony on September 10th.
343 nominations were announced. CBS received the most network
nominations with 91, followed by ABC with 73 and NBC with 66. HBO
received 34 nominations and PBS had 25. NYPD Blue received the most
nominations with 26. Tim Allen (Home Improvement) was not included among
the nominees for best comedy actor because his staff missed the deadline
for submitting his name on the nominating ballot. Duh. 8-) His co-star,
Patricia Richardson, who was nominated for best actress in a comedy series
assisted in reading nominations. When reading the list of nominees for
best actor in a comedy series, she started off with "Tim Allen...just
kidding!" 8-)
