275.0. "Hart to Hart question" by GRANMA::JBOBB (Janet Bobb dtn:339-5755) Tue Jul 19 1994 01:18

    If this topic is somewhere else, Moderators please feel to move
    this....

    I need help answering a question that has resulted in a family bet.

    Last friday, 7/15/94 there was an episode of Hart to Hart on the Friday
    Mystery Movie (or whatever they call that slot now). I only caught the
    last 20 minutes of it so didn't see credits for the major characters.

    There was a female character, who seemed to be in the role of
    antagonist/love interest for Max. There were 2 scenes with her that I
    saw - one in the kitchen where she and Max are fighting about how best
    to make scrambled eggs/omelet and the last scene where there are at
    city hall looking for someone to marry them, when they change their
    minds.

    The question - who is that woman? Is it the same actress who played
    Mrs. Roper on Three's Company? Or is it the older woman from Wings?

    Any help would be appreciated, even if I lose the bet!

    thanks!

    janetb.

    ps: don't know about anyone else, but IMHO, these episodes of Hart to
    Hart definately do not live up the old episodes.

    It was Mrs Ropper

    Polly... Something????
275.2THANKS!GRANMA::JBOBBJanet Bobb dtn:339-5755Tue Jul 19 1994 23:1511
    Thanks! ...especially since this means I win the bet :^) ...

    It's funny how a voice can sound familiar but the face doesn't click at
    all. With a different hair-do, or some simple face changes (like in
    star trek)I usually don't recognize people. Sometimes I feel like I'd
    be one of those people who wouldn't recognize Clark Kent as Superman,
    just becauce of the glasses he's wearing!

    Thanks again - notes file to the rescue!

275.3Don't collect yet!DEMON::DEMON::COURTWit happens.Tue Jul 19 1994 23:4111
    Don't cash in on your bet yet. The actress who played Mrs. Roper was
    named Audra Lindley (sp?). So, either .1 got the actress' name wrong,
    or you subliminally convinced him that it was Mrs. Roper.

    I didn't see Hart to Hart last week, but could the acress be Polly
    Holliday (sp?), who played Flo on Alice? Picture her with a tacky red
    wig and 20 years younger.

    Maybe you've both lost the bet?

It was definitely Audra Lindley (sp?) -- I remember thinking she hadn't
aged very well.  :-)
275.5not polly holiday (sp?)GRANMA::JBOBBJanet Bobb dtn:339-5755Thu Jul 21 1994 06:1715
    Gee... I didn't realize I start something here too! :^)

    It definately was NOT Polly Holliday (sp?), I've seen her in several
    things other than Alice ("kiss my grits, Mel") and have always been
    able to tell her voice.

    If it is Audra Lindley (Mrs. Roper), since she was always wearing those
    crazy clothes and hairdo (IMHO) it would be hard to tell how she
    "aged". Haven't seen her in anything since she was Mrs. Roper, so don't
    know what she looks like otherwise. From what I saw in Hart-to-Hart,
    she looked pretty good and much more real than "Mrs. Roper".

    thanks for the help!
