263.0. "South Central" by DEMON::DEMON::COURT (Wit happens.) Thu Jun 09 1994 02:21
Has anybody seen the new Fox series, "South Central?" It airs Tuesdays
at 8:00.
It's about a family - a mother, her two teenage children, and a
newly-adopted child, who we learn is a crack baby - that lives in the
Crenshaw district of L.A. I must confess, I've never experienced the
struggles of growing up in South Central Los Angeles, but the show
feels very realistic. Filming the series, rather than videotaping it,
adds to the realism.
Each episode is self-contained, but there are definitely storylines
that have continued from episode to episode.
It's not on Fox's fall schedule, so catch it while you can. Assuming
they got a 13-episode order, there are probably about six new episodes
remaining.
Any comments?

| I've watched most of th episodes. It is definately grittier than most
"family situation tv" series. I can't say whether I like it yet, but I
definately am still watching.
I think the actors are good - really like the woman playing the mother.
A strong character, trying to survive in a tough situation with dignity
and decency. The two older kids seem a little too self-centered for the
situation (but hey, what do I know... they're teenagers :^) )
I'm sorry it's not on the schedule for next year.
