CULVER CITY, Calif. (AP) -- The television drama ``NYPD Blue''
was a double winner Tuesday night at the 20th annual People's
Choice Awards, and ``Frasier'' and ``Grace Under Fire'' tied for
favorite new TV comedy.
``Jurassic Park'' was the favorite movie and Garth Brooks was
the favorite male musical performer. ``NYPD Blue'' won for best TV
dramatic series and best new TV dramatic series.
Tim Allen and Roseanne Arnold were chosen as best male and
female TV performers.
The program, hosted by Paul Reiser of the sitcom ``Mad About
You,'' included a special tribute to producer-director Steven
Spielberg, whose films include ``Jurassic Park'' and ``Schindler's
List.''
Winners of the People's Choice Awards were determined by a
Gallup Poll of more than 4,000 people nationwide who were asked to
list their favorite music, TV shows and movies.
CBS broadcast the show with a 7-second tape delay in the East.
It wasn't live because during last week's live airing of the Grammy
Awards, Bono of the rock group U2 swore on stage. The word was
censored when a tape of the show was played in Western time zones.

| I didn't watch it, but I'll admit I'm glad to hear "Home Improvement"
won; while "Seinfeld" has had its great moments, this season I think
"Home" is better. [But for stuff like this, I think the Olympic scheme
might be better - give gold, silver, and bronze to the top three, so
people don't have to make (as many) tradeoffs. It'll never sell, but
*I'd* like it.]
