| I loved this show. It would be great if someone would show it again. As far
as the names, I can't remember too much more than you already have. I believe
that the father's name was Douglas Lawrence and that Nancy's baby was named
Timmy. I'm less sure about Willie's wife's name, but I think it was Serena
or something like that anyway.
It's driving me nuts that I can't remember Buddy's best friend's name. I
can picture her so clearly! Also, don't forget that Buddy had a couple of
long-time boyfriends. One was played by Willie Ames, "Tommy" from "Eight
Is Enough". I can't remember his name on "Family" either though. :-(
Oh wait! Wasn't Buddy's friend called Audrey? Maybe Audrey Fifer?

223.5 | More Memories -- Thanks! | NODEX::HOLMES | | Tue Feb 01 1994 23:58 | 25 |
| This must have been kicking around in my subconscious last night,
because as I woke up I remembered more of it.
I think that Buddy's boyfriend, played by Willie Ames, was named
T.J. Lattamer -- not too sure of the last name but I think that
T.J. is right. I think that there was another boyfriend named
Zack. He had long, straigh, dirty-blond hair, but I can't remember
much else about him.
Willie's wife -- I think it was Selina, not Serena. Maybe Selina McGill
or Selina McGee <-- I think that's it!
Remember Buddy's nicknames? She was called "Tizzy-Lish" (for Letticia)
by her mother and "Peaches" by Willie.
Careers? I think that the father was a lawyer or a judge, and that
Nancy was studying to become a lawyer too. The mother played and
taught piano. Willie was an aspiring writer.
As far as when the show ran, I can only guess. I think that I was the
same age as Buddy, and that she was 12-16ish during the run of the show.
So I'd guess the mid-seventies, maybe 1974-1978.

| I have a Directory of Television Series, which gives a synopsis of what
the show was about, and it lists everyone that had a role in it (not
guest stars obviously) and their characters name. Hopefully! I will
remember to bring it in tomorrow and see what they wrote about it, and
if there are any additions to what was already written.
I really enjoyed this show alot. I remember that and Eight Is Enough
were one of my favorites. As well as Little House On The Prairie... boy
I miss those shows! :(

| "Family" is/was on the Nostalgia station. Local cable company dropped
Nostalgia a few of months ago but it was on every evening at that time.
I don't know if it still is.
There were 2 actresses who played Nancy. I don't remember who the 1st
one was, although Merideth Baxter was the 2nd one. The 1st one was
dark haired. She was only in the very early episodes.

Veronica Hamel. I could be wrong...

| re: professions.. willie decided to be a filmmaker if
I remember correctly...I recall him being in the
dark room, but later I think he combined photograpy and
words for the Cinema.
Nancy *did* become a lawyer...
PEACHES!!!! thanks!, I *knew* Willie had a speckial
nickname for her...!
His wife (willie's) at one time almost had an affair
with Serena's roomie, the blonde after her death.
I recall Veronica Hamel being in the series, but not
as Nancy, but a rival of some sorts for Jeff's affection?
Didn't he remarry, or at least live with her..there is
a scene I hazily recall where Jeff is picking Timmy up,
and outside in the car (convertable) is Veronica H.
and Nancy went ballistic???
Keep them trivia stuff coming, please !!!!

Why would someone have an affair with someone after their death?

| If I remember correctly, Willie did go out with Selena Magee (Season
Hubley). Then, she took her baby and went home to her parents.
Later on in the series, Willie met a woman (played by Brooke Adams) who
was dying. I can't remember her name. He married her, but she died
shortly afterward. I remember a scene on the beach when she left him a
box of fireworks and he set them off after her death. It was really
sad.
Then, I believe Selena came back into the picture after Willie ran into
her and they tried again but it didn't work out.
I know, it's fuzzy, but I'm sure some of the comments here will get the
memory going.

| I thought this note was dead. I did look to see if my TV Directory
thing had FAMILY and it does. Of course because I keep forgetting to
bring it in, it does not help. I promise before the end of the week
I will have posted the entire thing about FAMILY. I remember when I
looked at it, it did in fact list all the characters that appeared,
even for 1 season.
I'll definately post it hear.

Family was a prime-time soap opera that followed the travails of the
middle-class Lawrence family in Pasadena, California. Doug was the
father, a highly independent lawyer, and Kate his quiet, steadfast
wife. The series opened with daughter Nancy discovering that her
husband Jeff was untrue (she walked in on him making love to another
woman) and it was all downhill from there. Nancy had a baby (Timmy),
divorces Jeff, then began having an affair of her own. Later she went
to work for a law firm, which seemed more interested in her body than
in her brains. Brother Willie, age 17, vulnerable and idealistic, was
confronted with his first love, an unwed mother (Salina), then married
a girl with a terminal illness (Lizzy). Little sister Buddy, age 13,
feeling unwanted, ran away from home. Before KAte could worry about
that, she discovered that she had breast cancer, after which Doug was
temporarily blinded in an automobile accident. An 11 year old waif
named Annie joined the household, only to reject everyone's affections.
Then there was the dying grandmother, Doug's alcoholic sister, and so
on and on, and on.....
That was the desrciption from my TV Book. HOpe this helps you out
somewhat.
