I just go the USA Today paper and they had a large article on the tv and movie sets that sustained damage in the earthquake. As well as stars homes. I will briefly take parts from it and put it here for those interested. Vanna White, Danny Devito, Paula Abdul, Quincy Jones, Wayne Gretzky, John Goodman: Homes were damaged but not seriously. Jerry Van Dyke star of Coach suffered heavy damage to his $1 million Toluca Lake mansion. (Including a dastated master bedroom), as did the San Fernando Valley homes of Denzel Washington, Kim Basinger, and ALec Baldwin. Warner Bros. which produces 12 TV Series, more than any other studio, damage was light and work was expected to resume today. But prime time viewers of shows such as Murphy brown, Family Matters, Sisters, and Full House will not notice a lapse. It usually takes 3 weeks to a month for a prime time TV show to go from production to screen, so delays will be minimal. Still, at MTM Studios (maybe that was a misprint in the paper and it is suppose to be MGM I don't know) the Seinfeld set suffered serious damage. Production of Fox's Melrose Place, taped in Santa Clarita, is on hold while engineers asses damage. And work on Fox's Beverly Hills, 90210 and Married..with Children was halted for five days. Picket Fences appeared to be one of the only prime time shows that was working Tuesday. The Tonight show with Jay Leno was back Tues. night after taking Monday off. But thehouse of Leno's assistant, Helga Pollack, was destroyed in the quake. Like Clint Black, Grace Under Fire start Brett Butler's first impulse was to flee. She hit the airport, ending up in a hotel in Arizona. "I live alone in the hills," she says. "I never want to hear a swimming pool slosh or wind chimes go like that again." Her show is on a break this week, but "that's the last thing on my mind. This is about incoveniencing a huge metor area. We have to take a back seat to everything that goes on." Connie Selleca and John Tesh ended up in their driveway due to a gas leak, where she cooked on a coleman stove. The timing was eeire for a Tuesday night screening of Nostradamus, about the 16th Century philosopher. the movie opened with an unidentified city skyline being destroyed in an earthquake. Ed McMahon's home suffered little damage but frightened his daughter and her two friends that were sleeping over at the time. How frightening was the Quake? It rattled native New yorkers Kid n Play, stars of the current movie House Party 3, so much that they checked out of their hotel pronto and took the first plane back home. This meant missing a planned Wednesday Tonight Show appearance. They'll rescehdule - if they can be talked back into returning to LA. "the terror of being in the middle of it iss beyond words," says country singer Collin Raye, who was in Los Angeles to read fora part on the TV series Melrose Place. "As bad as the aftermath is, that moment of not knowing what's going to happen is the worst thing I've ever experienced. thought some of you might find the article interesting. Karen

Jay Leno only had 60 people in his audience last night, down from the usual 500. He said it was like playing to a small strip club but he thanked all the homeless people from the park across the street for showing up. The quake seemed to hit at 4am when most people were asleep. Jay said that when he woke up what with all the doors slamming and glass breaking he thought Sharon Dority was in the house. He also said that the quake was so bad ... HOW BAD WAS IT ... that Lyle Menendez's toupee ended up on Erick Menendez's head. George

Jay's Earthquake jokes for today. Did you hear about Charls Bronson's new movie Death Watch 5? It's about a guy whom moves to L.A. It's 11:35, do you know where your house is? In Dodger Stadium the seats were doing the wave without any people. In fact, 17 people were injured when Madona's bed collapsed. After the earth quake there were boarder crossings only this time they were going from L.A. to Mexico. Earth Quake fact. Seismologists say L.A. is moving and one day will be where San Francisco is today. It looks like even L.A. is trying to get out of L.A. ... This just in ... officials are reporting that as the result of an after shock a large chunk has just broken off Zaza Gabor. George

re: .6 Most polls show only 3% of those interviewed after the quake want to leave. Lived here all my life, it's still the nicest place to live and I been all over the U.S. Just about all U.S cities need work, but the suburbs were most live are still pretty good. Oh by the way it's 79 degrees and sunny...makes these aftershocks easy to cope with. Dave

I read a newsclip in one of the CLARInet newsgroups that said the epicenter of the quake was directly under the "triangle of shame" in San Fernando valley where a huge number of "porno" films are shot. One quote from a director" was: "it's enough to make you get religion" Ken

When the 6.6 tremor struck Monday, Shimmerman was at Paramount Studios in Hollywood for pre-dawn filming while his wife, actress _K_i_t_t_y _S_w_i_n_k, was home in the San Fernando Valley. Shimmerman rushed home -- in full makeup, including pointy ears and prostheses that form his lumpy head and face. ``I'm sure a lot of people thought aliens landed,'' he said. With traffic signals out, Shimmerman and other drivers were taking turns moving through intersections. ``It wasn't my turn yet, but some guy looked at me and waved me through. I'm not sure whether he thought I'd had a bad accident and needed to get to a hospital or what,'' he said. ``I wish I had a picture of that guy's face. He looked like, 'That guy's really bad off.''' When Shimmerman got home, a shaken Swink burst into laughter when she saw her husband. ``I was comforting my wife as Quark, not Armin,'' Shimmerman said. About five hours later a Paramount makeup technician went to his home to help him out of the get-up. -- Student looking for a 386SX powered laptop <:> Internet: [email protected] with AC Adapter, carrying case, VGA display <:> Fidonet: Mark Holtz@1:203/1701 and 120MB Hard Drive.
