| She did an HBO show about a year ago.
Pretty good!
She was on with Jay Leno last night.

| I normally like Paula Poundstone a lot. I saw her live in Boston Garden about
a year or so ago and she was fantastic.
She wasn't that great last night, seems that she made the top 10 worst dressed
list from that guy, ..., what's his name ... Blackwell? ... Blackman? ... I
forget. Anyway, she seemed to be griping about it quite a bit. Maybe she was
doing it for a gag but it didn't work, she came across as gripping.
She did have a few better jokes later in the show.

| I thought she had a couple of very funny bits, especially the one
with the Neilsen guy and the cookies. She wanted to interview a
Neilsen family (the ratings people), but they wouldn't divulge the
names of who they use. Then she asked to interview a neighbor, and
they declined to provide that also. So Paula interview Leslie
Neilsen's neighbors!!!

| I'm a big fan of Paula's, I try to catch her whenever she's part
of some comedy special, and was lucky enough to see her show
on HBO (which was pretty much a 1/2 hour version of her ABC
show). If we get the 13 shows ABC ordered, I guess we'll
be lucky. I'll be very surprised if she survives the
time slot (but hope she fares better than "Pick Lady and Jeff"!)
My VCR is revved.

| I like Paula live (saw her twice at Play it again Sam's about
five years ago) performing but I had to turn her show off
after about 1/2 an hour of it (I can't believe it's an hour
show!!!). She and Chevy should hang out together, they'll
soon both be out of work ....

185.6 | Cancelled after only two (2) shows | NETRIX::michaud | Jeff Michaud, PATHWORKS for Windows NT | Thu Nov 11 1993 16:36 | 8 |
| Well surprise surprise .... NOT! CNN HN reports that the
show has been cancelled after only two (2) shows. The
network is rumored to of said it was a ratings nightmare.
This weekends show is pre-empted by show music show or
something, and next week and on until a new replacement
is found, they are going to run Matlock reruns in that
timeslot.

Geeze...talk about giving it a shot....Whatever happened to the idea of giving
shows a chance to "find" their audience?
Did they expect a top 10 show on a weekend night after 2 weeks?
I guess I'll never run a network,

| I saw her on Jeopardy a few nights ago, and she was hilarious. I've
seen and liked her stand-up, but never thought of watching her show.
No matter how bad it was I can't believe the network would already
cancel it. Is this some type of record?

Jackie Gleeson's follow up to The Honeymooners ("You're in
the Picture"??) was cancelled after the first show.
I think the Australian's hold the record with a show of home
video clips that was cancelled half way through - it didn't
return after a commercial break.

| Oh NOOOOOOOO!
I thought the economists in the scrambler-teacups was a little over the
top, but I *loved* the show! She's very quick in the audience
repartee, teasing without being insulting... finding the hidden
absurdity in any given topic. Sheesh.
She was hilarious on Jeopardy! (Kelsey Grammer and Michael Finestein
[sp] held their own, too.)

Not quite. It lasted at least one episode. I saw the first episode - Pinchot
was assumed lost on an African safari, but he shows up years later at the door
of his now-remarried wife, husband, and kid(s).
Too bad - I would have liked to see more of Courtney Cox (who played the wife's
sister). :-(
adam
ps. it *is* gone as a series, nevertheless. I thought is was pretty funny.

185.16 | 2nd show (different network?) | HOCUS::FERGUSON | Are you making this up? | Thu Dec 02 1993 09:56 | 7 |
| Paula Poundstone had a show before this one, that was cancelled after 3
or 4 episodes - I think it was a talk show. I watched one episode and
found it pretty boring. She's much better as a comedian than a
hostess. I didn't even bother to watch this one because I remembered
the last one; I suspect a lot of people may have felt the same way.
