| William Daniels played the role of Dr. Mark Craig.
He's an excellent and quite well known character actor on stage and screen.
Among his many other roles are the voice of KITT on "Knight Rider", John Adams
in the play "1776", parts in the films "The Graduate" and "Oh God", and the
title role in the short lived TV series "Captain Nice".
Back to St. Elsewhere, William Daniels' wife Bonnie Bartlett played the part
of Dr. Craig's wife Ellen. Their real life marriage is _much_ better than the
stormy one they portrayed on screen.

| Was William Windom the actor who played Patty Duke's Father in the
"Patty Duke Show" ? (circa 1960)
Back to St Elsewhere:
If nothing else the show had a lot of undiscovered
superstars... Denzel Washington, Howie Mandel, Mark Harmon...
Thanks for the Trivia answer...

| I think that Howie Mandel was already famous as a stand up comic by the time
he did St Elsewhere, but Harmon and Washington seemed to get their start no
that show.

I think that Patty Duke's father was William Schellert or something
like that.

| Yes, William Schallert, I think.
Since we're all remembering William Windom in roles he never played,
:-) my recollection is that he played James Thurber (or reasonable
facsimile based on Thurber) in a sitcom whose name escapes me...

| "My World, and Welcome To It" was terrific. Lasted only
a season, and I think Windom won an Emmy as best actor in
a comedy series.

| YES, yes yes that was it. One would think it'd be impossible to do
Thurber justice, but I think they did... I remember not too much about
the animation other than it was a technical marvel at the time! It
looked very much like Thurber's line drawings, and I *think* they
integrated it with the live action.
No good show goes unpunished, huh?

This is a shot in the dark, was it Christina Pickle, My wife
remembers her being a nurse on the show.

129.12 | Not Christina Pickle | AWECIM::MCMAHON | Living in the owe-zone | Thu Jul 07 1994 03:40 | 3 |
| No, Christina Pickle was the nurse with the British accent. The nurse
that became a doctor played Robert Urich's wife in 'Amerika' and of
course I can't remember her name. Aarrgh.

129.14 | Cindy Pickett | ALFA2::ACQUAFRESCA | Take me to the beach, please!!!! | Thu Jul 07 1994 07:11 | 5 |
| It was Cindy Pickett. She played a nurse who had decided to go to
medical school. Dr. Westfall was her mentor, and then they got
involved romantically. She was a lot younger than him.

| Just to add, I don't think that the character's name was Novena.
Dr. Novena was on the first two seasons as one of the permanent
doctors. She had long brown hair, where Cindy Pickett's character (I
forget her name) had short redish hair.
