Comments on last night's show (behind formfeed)...

The premise of Princess Anastasia coming to Cicely to hide out after
her family was killed was appealing. But throughout the course of
the show, it became more and more unbelievable.

Why would a princess, who's whole family was killed and is in hiding
make it known to anyone who came in contact with her who she really
was? And why would Lenin even consider giving her any kind of power
    at all?

The most annoying was the British accents of both the actors who
played Lenin and Anastasia. Why didn't they use a Russian accent??

Keep in mind that Northern Exposure is a comedy. While it had a certain
dramatic touch Monday night, it is still meant to be on the light side.

One running gag (dramatic gag if you will) is that against all odds, Cicely
Alaska seems to have been visited by everyone who was anyone at one time or
another yet they always blend in with the locals as if it were no big thing.

As for British Accents, I don't know, why is it that ancient Romans always
seem to have British Accents. Mark Anthony has been portraid as British so
often that most people in the States think of him as a member of the Royal
Family.

I liked the show. I thought the guy who played Lenin really looked the part.

    Synopsis follows form feed:

In a storyline that started last week, Joel and Maggie have decided
they're made for each other and have decided to get married. Just
to be sure they decide to move in together, but everytime they try
to consummate their relationship a gun goes off;e.g. a shotgun that
Maggie keeps for protection accidentally falls down and discharges, a
hunter walking by the cabin accidentally puts a bullet through the
front window, etc. Needless to say, this makes Fleischman crazy and
O'Connell comes to realize that there is always going to be something
that will make Fleischman crazy so she asks him to move out. Joel does,
and while on a house call to a remote island realizes that Maggie is
right- his whole life is one crisis after another. So he decides to
abandon civilization and live on this island with the Natives.
Minnifield sends Ed to retrieve him but Joel refuses to budge and in
a touching scene Ed bids farewell to Fleischman.
Meanwhile Ruth Ann has decided she is madly in love with Walt, and
after hemming and hawing gives in to her hormones.
Chris decides to add a deck and a screened-in porch to his trailer.
Unfortunately, the contractor that he hires nearly destroys the
trailer and Chris's sanity in the process
but Chris realizing that a house is just a "personal metaphor"
    manages to relax and enjoy.
    Next week:Fleischman's replacements are introduced.

    Brief comment post formfeed:

I thought Janine Turner did an excellent bit of acting in the scene
where Maggie tells Joel he has to move out. She looked very, very sad
at having to do this, the sort of angry sadness you feel when you work
very hard to bring something about, and then realize it just can't be
    the way you want.

I wouldn't say "hormones". They gave into their hormones last year. (It
was a show in which Ed blabs about their affair at a dinner party
hosted by Mennifield, then feels terribly guilty about it). What they
    gave into was, simply, love.

19.7wasn't a good showAPLVEW::DEBRIAEFri Jan 20 1995 03:536

I didn't tape the show, but can offer that you didn't miss much. It
was just a so-so NE episode, it could have been much better given
    	the water storyline...

    Has this show been cancelled?

I lost interest a short time ago, it just got boring.

    Entertaining in the beginning though.

No, really??!? Was wondering what had happened to this series. Was one
of the consistently good shows on TV; had a good mix of serious and
humorous themes, as well as the magical/mystical experiences woven
unobtrusively into the story line. Even though the quality was
declining in the last few episodes, I would have liked to keep watching
it, but it was always being preempted.

Would anyone in the Baltimore/Washington area have a copy of the last
episode which I could view and return?
