| RE: .39
Well I guess the older notes got lost in the clean up.
O.k. - the character who played Becky wanted to go to college full time
- she is now interested in heading back to CA to pursue some movie
stuff. Soon after that - Sarah Gilbert (Darlene) wanted to leave the
show too to attend college - Roseanne and Sarah made arranges to build
a set in NY so Sarah could shoot some scenes and they wrote a storyline
where Darlene goes away to school - this would explain why Darlene isnt
in teh house all thje time. David faked going back to his mom in MN
and moved in with Darlene...David's brother, Mark who is married to the
becky character (the new becky and Mark live with Dan and Roseanne) .

| Mark's buddie spille dthe beans about david and darlene...
roseanne stormed up to the school -told david to move back to her house
- but dan was sooooo pissed off that david moved in with jackie for a
while (they did a cool spoof on the Graduate and the Mrs Robertson
scene) david finally moved back in - so now you have becky, mark,
david, DJ, dan and roseanne all living under the same roof...
Phew - thats about 6 episodes in Reader's Digest formula :^}

Thanks! I did see that one episode where David sneaks into the basement
to see Darlene when she was back in town and Dan catching them and
being totally mad.
Hmmm, I guess I was surprised that the old Becky couldn't have made
guest appearences when they needed her because the new Becky has a
completely different personality and she doesn't fit in at all!
She's too "sweet"
I wish I remember to watch it more often! and of course the reruns on
FOX is not at a good time for me either!
I liked last night's show where Dan tells David that "Mrs. Connors
never suffers alone!"

| Denny Dillon has signed to star in a made-for-tv movie about
Roseanne.
Dillon was in the cast of Saturday Night Live for one season (1988)
and for the past 5 years has played Toby, Martin Tupper's secretary,
in the HBO sitcom "Dream On."

12.5 | What's up with Fred? | SOLVIT::FLMNGO::WHITCOMB | | Fri Oct 14 1994 02:46 | 6 |
| Has anyone noticed anything different about the guy who plays Jackie's husband
Fred this season? In the first episode, I thought they had replaced the
character with another actor until I read in the TV Guide that it was the same
guy. I can't put my finger on it, but he's either lost a lot of weight, lost
a lot of hair, cut off a moustache, or SOMETHING! ;-) It's driving me crazy,
and I studied him on last night's show and still couldn't figure it out.

| I noticed the difference too - he cut his hair and shaved off his
beard.

| He shaved.
Rosanne convinced him to shave. I forget the details but it was something
along the lines of him having a fight with Jackie and Rosanne convincing him
that the way to Jackie's heart was to shave.
Actually it was Rosanne who wanted him to shave but it seemed to work and
he and Jackie got back together.
Or something like that,

| The shaving thing was last season. The actor (Michael O'Keefe) perhaps
had another job lined up before they started filming Roseanne again,
because he really chopped his hair. Makes him look like a prisoner. :)

| Thanks to everyone for clearing that up, now I can relax! ;-)
>>>Makes him look like a prisoner.
I thought the same thing, but I even thought that he could be ill; as to me
he looked very thin, pale, and his hair looked much thinner. I'm glad that
wasn't the case.
I hope he eventually grows at least his moustache back! ;-)

Is DJ coming into his prime ??
Was last nights show a scream or what !!! It was a great story line,
David dreaming about Roseanne !?! Makes me shiver just to think
about it.
DJ had some great lines and delivered them very well ! Lots of laughs !
Anyone else think this episode ranks up there with the smoking pot in
the bathroom one ??

| So how does everyone like the new opening shots?! I thought for sure
that last week someone would write here, if not about the *opening*
sequence then about the closing one (takeoff on the Patty Duke Show)!
I thought last night's scene, where Dan wants to tell DJ how they get
around the toxic-waste-disposal laws, was uncharacteristically poorly
written (as if they assigned a rookie writer to that one scene). But
I've liked everything else about the new season so far.

| Having the original actress back threw me last week. I starting
wondering if this was a repeat rather than the season opener, but with
the subject being a baby shower for Rosanne, figured they'd done a
switch.
I wonder if the 2 actresses will switch back and forth?
I did like the end credits with the take off of the Patty Duke show.
But you have to wonder how many people watched that without a clue as
to what it was. I thought it was a cute touch to have the actor who
played Patty Duke's father show up.
Didn't like the show. But may turn in for end credits, if they do more
of this type of thing. Reminds me of a previous year episode credit
when they first made the Becky switch where DJ is just mumbling "they
say she's the same, but she's not the same"...

Stupidly IMNSHO!!
Dan was really dead from the heart attack he suffered last year and
Roseanne is telling a story all year.
Darlene comes home with her baby.

I didn't see the show [haven't actually ever watched an entire
episode], but I head about the twist and thought it was quite clever.
