    Hi,
    
    	I'm looking for the name of the singer that performed the song
    "Goodbye My Friend" during the show when Maureen died.  Remember that?
    I actually taped the song onto a cassette from my VCR tape, but I'd
    like to order the song sheet.  It sounded like Linda Ronstadt to me.
    Any other ideas?  Does anyone who gets S.O.D. know if it might have
    been noted in one of the issues?

    Linda Rondstadt does sing that song.  I believe it is on her Cry like
    a rainstorm Howl like the wind.....album.

    GUESS WHAT????  Phillip Spaulding is now on All My Children.  I don't
    know much about his character because I don't watch soaps on any other
    network other than CBS, but from the 90 seconds I did catch it, he
    plays a snotty opportunist...
    
    I guess that means he's not coming back to GL...

    Has anybody heard anything knew on the guy who plays Hart.
    Is he still in a coma?  I read that Josh is coming back to GL,can't
    wait.  Maybe he'll come between Harley and Mallett.

    I read that he is still in a coma, but in stable condition.  They still
    don't know what the prognosis is, but they do know he will have some
    brain damage.  The show will be having a replacement for him because of
    the major storyline he was in when he was hurt.

At the diner, Detective Cutter is sitting with a cup of coffee. Nadine is
alone in the diner and making small talk, he wants to know where Buzz and
Frank went. Evidently they faked a grease fire and skipped out from Cutter's
view during the commotion. Nadine says she has no idea what he is talking about
and in comes Julie with the baby. She wants to know where Frank is, she says
he told her not to sleep alone in the house with Marina so she has come to the
diner. She takes the baby upstairs to Stavros' apartment. And then in comes
Jenna, all rushed and looking for Buzz. Cutter wants to know why she wants him
and she says  she left her purse here the other day and wants it back. Cutter
tells her to be more dramatic, telling such a phoney line without a persuasive
tone won't convince anyone she is telling the truth. Julie comes in, hears this
and hands Jenna her bag from under the counter! Jenna opens it and all is there
except the pregnancy results. She asks Nadine about it, gets a vague answer
and realizes Nadine told Roger. Nadine says Roger has a right to know, it's not
Buzz's baby, Jenna should go home and leave Buzz alone. Nadine says Buzz has a
lot on his mind now, she orders Jenna not to tell Buzz she is pregnant because
he would come to her rescue and she always needs rescuing. Nadine is rude and 
says she is closing up; Cutter says he is staying and so does Jenna.

At the closed health club, Frank has Eleni in his arms and is trying to force
water into her mouth and  get her to become conscious. AM is having a hard time
listening to Frank tell the unconscious Eleni how much he loves her and needs
her. Finally she chokes on the water and comes to; the first thing she does is
ask Frank to kiss her, then kiss her again. AM goes to the phone and calls for
an ambulance and the police. Cutter gets the call from his station and heads
out, leaving the women very nervous.

Outside, George has Lucy with a gun at her head, and Buzz has the lamb and the
key to the gate. He and George shout at each other, and finally agree to a deal,
George can have the lamb, Buzz gets Lucy. George is surprised to hear this, and
Buzz tells her he is a Cooper, not a Spaulding. What no one knows is that good
old Roger has arrived and is hiding in the bushes with his gun pointed at 
George, waiting to see what will happen. He is stunned to hear that the paper
is inside the lamb. Buzz opens the gate and on the count of three he tosses
the lamb to George and she shoves Lucy at him; he grabs her in a bear hug.
George starts running away and gets tackled by AM. Buzz kicks the gun from her
and Lucy picks up and tries to toss it to AM. Somehow George gets the gun again
and Lucy again, and in the melee, the lamb gets tossed into the bushes. Guess
who picks it up.

Madness and mayhem and shouting and threatening and out steps Roger, as George
holds the gun to Lucy. More shouting and pointing and the police arrive. George
takes off and AM points the police after them. Buzz and Lucy hug each other
and then AM and Buzz start going nuts on Roger. Roger is cool as ice, and why
not? They can't pin a thing on him. AM and Buzz tell Cutter that Roger hired
George, and Roger admits he hired her to find George, but not to kidnap Eleni
or hurt anyone, he came out here to the club because George had threatened his
wife and he wanted to find out what she had said to upset her. AM and Buzz are
flipping that the cops can't do anything and Roger is smirking like mad. Then
Buzz sees the lamb in Roger's jacket pocket, and says it belongs to his grand-
child. Roger's face changes slightly and he hands the lamb over, reluctantly.
Buzz gives it to Lucy.

Inside the club, Frank and Eleni cuddle and kiss and talk about their love and
life until the medical staff arrives. They give her an IV, check her out and
say she can go home. AM and Lucy come in to see how she is, and Eleni thanks
him for helping to save her and tells Frank to say thanks. Frank goes to AM
and starts to say thanks and AM says he knows Frank thinks he was grandstanding.
Frank says yes, but if my wife says I should thank you, I will. Lucy jumps in
and says AM saved her life with George, he really did and she will never forget
how wonderful he was. Lucy has given the lamb to AM and Frank takes it, saying
it is Marina's toy. Lucy takes it from Eleni, both of them wanting to give it
to AM and finally Frank says okay. Frank goes out, and sees ROger and goes nuts.
He flings himself at Roger, and is stopped by Buzz and the police from pounding
him into the ground. Frank tells Roger to stay away from his family, he will
get even with him. Roger stands there with that smirky grin that you want to
wipe off his face with your fist as Frank takes Eleni home.

Buzz is left alone with Roger and he apologizes sarcastically for Frank's
temper, he believes you get the message across better when there is no shouting.
So he quietly tells Roger if he ever comes near any member of his family, if he
ever hurts anyone of them, he will personally send Roger straight to Hell. And
then he babbles a little about Roger losing his standing in the community when
the story comes out, not that he had much to begin with. Roger smirks and lets
him talk and then says it doesn't matter, the important thing is that his wife
loves him for himself, rich or poor, she will always be there for him. Buzz
says he has no idea, he is deluding himself. Roger finally tells Buzz that his
crush on his wife is pathetic, she is pregnant with Roger's baby. Buzz is
stunned by this news. Roger walks away, going home to his loving pregnant wife.

At the diner, Frank and Eleni come in and Julie goes to get the baby. There are
hugs and kisses all around, and Jenna watches the family reunion with tears in
her eyes. In comes Buzz and Lucy and there are more hugs and kisses all around.
Then Buzz sees Jenna. She says she waited around to make sure he was okay, is
he okay? He says yes, and then offers his very un-enthusiastic congrats for
her pregnancy. She starts to cry and says she does not know what she is going to
do, and she leaves the diner.

Roger goes home and walks into the dark bedroom, talking to Jenna. He says it is
over and everything is fine, Eleni is safe and he turns on a light -- the bed
is empty. He gets that stunned look on his face, sits on the edge of the bed
and lowers his head in sadness.

On the other side of town, our favorite whiner and Nick come home from the
movies. She says she did not see it because he made them sit in the last row
and make out the whole movie, giggle giggle. They start slurping all over each
other again, wondering if they will sit in the last row when  they are old and
married and he says he doesn't care where they sit as long as he can grab her
[note: insert retching sounds here]. Nick says he wants to get married soon,
why not have a white wedding to go with the season. She says she will think
about it later, she has other things on her mind now. They head upstairs and 
get into bed where once again they start kissy kissy touchy feely in that
disgustingly noisy slurpy style that they have. The phone rings.

It is Alexandra, who has been waiting up for them to return to the lighthouse
so she can pull some monkey business. She tells Nick that she cannot get the
murphy bed to come down from the wall, will he please come over and help her?
He moans about it but goes. Mewhiner Sue pouts and waits.

Alex has purposely jammed the bed and Nick cannot open it. She  talks about how
she is sorry about disturbing him, she did not want to walk up to the light-
house and disturb them by staying there because she knows they like their
privacy. She talks about how great it felt when he came to her rescue at the
club, when Roger threatened her and he says it felt good for him to be there for
her. Meanwhile, Mewhiner Sue is literally writhing around on her bed, wondering
where her Nick is, why is it taking so long? She decides to help Alex get a
good night's sleep, and drags a futon down there. Nick helps her get it in the
door and they both wish Alex a good night's sleep! Alex knows Mewhiner Sue
won that round!

Mewhiner Sue and Nick are heading out from Alex's and in comes AM, all
sweaty and excited, yelling that he got the lamb! He tells them what happened
and that Eleni is safe and he got the lamb! They have no idea what is the big
deal about the lamb and he tells ALex that there was another copy of the
contract, Bess hid it inside the lamb, and it is theirs now! Alex and AM hug
each other and jump around in excitement that they will get back everything --
the company, the jets, the yacht, everything! AM rips open the back seam of
the lamb and finds NOTHING. Nothing in there but the stuffing! He is horified
and says someone must have found it first, but who?

Does Roger Dodger have it? The lamb did not look like it had been opened at
all before AM got to it... But Roger was a little too smirky about walking
away from the whole George mess with his reputation and life intact... hmmm...

    Dec 15 Update.
    
    Springfield is celebrating that Roger has been shot.  I'm not sure how
    they determined this but he has not been found.  They do have a
    blood-stained coat with a bracelet in the pocket as the only evidence. 
    Alex and AM were leaving the police station from being questioned.  As
    they are driving in their limo to the office, AM tells Alex he knows
    that it was her bracelet that they found.  AM proceeds to question her
    and asks her if she shot Roger.  She said that she wanted to kill him
    but didn't.  Apparently she got in a big fight with him before his
    disappearance in front of a lot of people at Mindy and her son's
    Engagement Party.  AM then asks her if she followed Roger after to
    finish the fight and she says no, but I know that you were with him at
    the shed (I guess the shed is where Roger was shot).  Then there was a
    commercial.  Next we see Jenna getting released from the hospital. 
    Buzz is taking her to stay at Harley and Mallot's old apartment.  She
    asked him if he shot her husband and he said he would dignify that
    remark with an answer then asked her if she did it.  She said no but is
    crying because Roger lied to her about her father.  Poor Jenna, no
    home, no job, no money and no father for her baby.  Then we see Nadine. 
    You can't help but like her but wonder how she got through life this
    far.  She tells Elanie that she is convinced that Jenna shot Roger and
    is going to sucker Buzz into taking the fall.  She rushes to the police
    department to tell them what a wonderful guy he is but how he is weak
    when it comes to beautiful women such as Jenna.  So now she plants the
    seed in the detectives head that Buzz would kill for Jenna.  Next we
    are back in the limo with Alex and AM.  Alex is calling her secretary
    telling her to send a check for a half million to Bess for testifying
    in their behalf.  She has also fired all of Roger's staff and replaced
    them with ex-Spaulding employees that Roger fired.  Now Blake and Ross
    are having an argument.  She tells him that she knows he didn't like
    her father and is happy that he is missing.  Ross doesn't deny it but
    tries to sugar coat his feelings.  Blake gets mad at him and tells him
    that she doesn't know what to believe about him anymore and leaves. 
    Holly is freaking over Eve.  Holly is telling Frank that Eve has been
    in her house etc.  Holly has since bought a gun because of her fear of
    Eve so I imagine she will be a suspect in the Roger shooting.  Frank
    tries to tell her that she is over-reacting and tells her to get a
    security system.  Meanwhile Eve and Ed are in a restaurant.  She is
    demanding that he tell her if he ever slept with Holly.  He doesn't
    answer her at first but tells her that their problems aren't because of
    Holly.  She keeps persisting so he tells her that he did sleep with
    Holly when he was married to Maureen.  Eve storms out.  Then we see
    Holly bending down to pick up the paper on her porch and there stands
    our favorite psychopath Eve glaring at her.  Talk about a walking time
    bomb, Eve has really been acting like she just checked out of Bates
    Motel.  The last scene shows Alex walking back into Spaulding and
    taking her office over again.. There is champagne and much celebrating. 
    The picture of Jenna has been taken down and Alex is whooping it up and
    throws a glass of champagne all over Jenna picture which is now laying
    on the floor.  Next the detective is looking at all of the suspects and
    is trying to figure out how Roger got these three suspects to love him
    enough to marry him but now hate him enough to want to kill him.  The
    three he is referring to are Holly, Alex and Jenna.  That's about all. 
    It should be real interesting to see how this all unravels.  Although
    any GL fan would probably realize that Roger is like teflon and nothing
    ever sticks to him, not even bullets.
    
    By the way, what ever happened to Billy and Vanessa's baby?  Did that
    girl take her baby back? 
    
    

    We know that Roger has been shot because the day that they showed Nick
    and Mindy's engagement party (where Roger showed up and caused a big
    rucus), at the end it showed him in the potting shed at the country
    club and someone looked in the window on the door at him and shot him. 
    The list goes on and on about who the suspects are.
    
    Billy and Vanessa still have Peter.  Bridget came to take him back, but
    then Roger showed up at B&V's, made a scene, and Bridget realized that
    if he ever found out that Peter was his grandson she'd never be able to
    fight him for Peter, so she decided to let Billy and Vanessa keep him
    because they knew how to fight Roger (if they ever had to).

    I happened to catch a good part.  Billy was talking to Nick telling him
    that he found out that Peter is Roger's grandson.  he told him that
    Vanessa knew but didn't tell him and how betrayed he felt.  He told
    Nick that Hart was the father and Bridget was the mother.  Then you see
    Roger hiding behind a tree or something and overhearing the whole
    conversation.  Then they did a close up on his face and he had the
    biggest grin on his face you could imagine.  They need to put some
    reality into this, however, Roger has been staggering all over
    Springfield with a bullet in him and still manages to smile.  How long
    can a person go on like that?

    Yesterdays show basically dealt with the fire.  Josh saved little
    Billy and Tangie.  Tangie told the police about the money and that
    guy Ray killing some businessman.  I think she will be cleared.
    
    It also showed Ed telling Eve that he's sorry about the way he 
    treated her.  He wants to get back together with her and she
    told him the only thing she wants is her job back.  She pretty
    much told him to take a hike.  Good for her,he's a jerk.
    
    It also showed Julie and Lucy at the police station.  Alan Micheal
    helped Lucy with the fine and then asked her to the house for dinner.
    Frank bailed out Julie.  I hope they don't try to throw these two
    together.  Although did you see the way she kissed Frank at the
    New Year's party,she has a crush on him.  I really don't like her
    that much she's a little whiner.  
    
    I would like to see the writers put Dylan and Bridget together.
    I really like these two.
    
    Alex invited Mindy and Nick to stay with her and they accepted.

    Update for Thursday
    
    Billy is in his garage drinking and Roger slithers up and starts
    telling him that he better turn Peter over to him because Peter belongs
    to him.  Roger also said that if Billy didn't, he would go to the
    police and tell them that he was the one who shot him - after all - he
    was the victim/witness and they would believe him not a drunken Billy.
    
    Holly tried to get a prescription filled for Roger but Ed tore it up
    and refused telling Holly that he thought she was making a major
    mistake helping Roger and that her life was in danger as long as
    someone is still out their who wants Roger dead.  Holly told Ed that
    she was just treating Roger as she would anyone sick and that it was
    the humane thing to do.  She also said that she didn't know when or if
    Roger would come back to her place but that she would have his medicine
    ready for him if he did.  
    
    Nadine went to the hospital to antagonize Jenna again.  Nadine was
    telling Jenna that she was just using Buzz and that she should let him
    go blah blah and Jenna starts screaming "if you were so secure in your
    relationship with Buzz and that he was going to come back to you how
    come it took him 20 years to come back last time he left" then called
    Lillian to have Nadine thrown out.  Buzz shows up and Nadine begged him
    not to let Jenna use him then Buzz went into Jenna's room and was
    hugging her.

    Alex announces that she is giving WSPR to Nick as a gift.  AM is
    furious because he promised WSPR to ??  David's sister/Hamp's ex wife
    (I can't remember her name)  Alex makes it sound so good to Nick I
    think he is interested by the smile on his face.

    Hi, her name is GILLY.
    
    Good weekend,

    Roger calls Vanessa and asks to speak to Billy.  Vanessa tells him that
    he isn't there.  Roger tells Vanessa that he want's his grandchild and
    that Billy is going to have to give him back.  Vanessa is furious and
    tells Roger to go to he!!.  In walks the detective and Roger tells him
    that Billy shot him.  Apparently while Roger was slithering around
    town, he got a hold of Billy's gun, fired it, put his blood on the
    bullet then gave it to the police.  Roger still has the original bullet
    that really hit him.  Billy is arrested and is being interrogated. 
    Bridgette is watching Peter as the whole family goes to Billy's rescue. 
    The detective keeps asking Billy "What do you have that Roger wants"?
    Billy is maintaining his cool and doesn't think they can make this
    stick.  Before Vanessa leaves she tells Dillon not to leave Bridgette
    and Peter until they get back.  But, Dillon thinks he should drive to
    Cross Creek and tell Harlan.  He calls the station and leaves a message
    for Vanessa.  He thinks it is OK because Roger is at the hospital and
    still under arrest.  Enter Holly.  Holly makes Nadine look like a
    rocket scientist sometimes and this is one of those times.  Holly
    enters in with bail money and announces that Roger has been released. 
    My phone rang so I don't know why he was granted bail and not Billy but
    he was.  She then says that Roger is also getting released from the
    hospital.  Vanessa tells Josh that at least Dillon is with Bridgette so
    nothing will happen to Peter.  She never got the message to phone
    Dillon and he leaves for Cross Creek.  Obviously Roger is going to go
    to B&V and take Peter.  
    
    Nick is delicately trying to handle the news release of Billy's arrest
    but Gilly thinks she should release the news now.  She goes over to
    Allan Michael and tells him.  He gives her his authority to release her
    article and to tell Nick that the almighty AM has spoken.  So this is
    going to cause major problems between AM and Nick.  AM already thinks
    that his Aunt Alex is turning on him in favor of Nick.  
    
    Blake is surpised that Ross turned down the opportunity to represent
    Billy in court.  Vanessa is furious with Ross because he is suppose to
    be Billy's friend.  Ross tells Vanessa and Blake separately that he
    doesn't want to fight Roger anymore becuase of his love for Blake. 
    Vanessa tells him that he has lost his mind and good judgement.  Blake
    thinks he walks on water.  So now Billy has to find a new lawyer. 
    Billy told Vanessa that under no circumstances was she to tell anyone
    that Peter is a Thorpe no matter what happened to him.  I saw a preview
    though that Vanessa does spill the beans.
    
    I wonder if they are going to bring Phillip and Beth back.  Lucy found
    a picture that Beth had painted and AM was telling her who Beth was
    etc.  Sounded like they may be coming back.  Why else bring it up when
    it didn't relate to anything that was going on?

OK, here it is, the first public draft of the much-discussed GL timeline.
This document is the product of many people's input. I especially want to
thank Diane Wilkerson, self-appointed keeper of the GL RATS archives, who
pored through lots of old updates & gave me lots of important dates. Big
thanks also to Shelby, Mike Kelly, C. Wagner, Ella and Joan. You folks
have great memories!
 
The timeline is set up by seasons, and the events in each season are in
chronological order as best I can figure it. When I know the exact or
approximate date, it's in parentheses next to the event. If there's no
date, then I'm just "pretty sure" this is where the event fits in, but
have no solid corroboration for it yet. Events separated by ellipses
(...) happened at the same time (I think).
 
It's still kind of rough, & I would greatly appreciate any corrections or
clarifications that anyone can provide. Also, at the end are several
short lists of events that I am still trying to fit into the overall
picture. (These lists each deal with a different storyline & I haven't
been able to sync them in with the others yet.) If you can put any of
these events in place, please let me know. It's like a giant jigsaw
puzzle!

    Once upon a time I was on a Guiding Light distribution list for daily
    updates.  Then, one day they moved me and my office.  I have not
    received an update since.  I am not living happily ever after.
    
    Does anyone know how I can get back on distribution?  I read the weekly
    TV Guide updates, but they are very general.  I truly enjoyed the
    update writer's inciteful and humorous commentaries.
    
    Please let me know -- someone -- anyone......

    	I got this out of the ABC soap file.  You can try mailing to
    Solvit::Panto or Itower::panto.  I don't know if she's the right person 
    now or not but you can try.  Don't you have a dis.list?  I too used to
    be on this list but don't work for dec anymore I'm a contract worker. 
    I share my account with my boss so I can't get on the list right now.
