| I don't believe it is about wealth. The context to me looks like He's
teaching about salvation.

Because without just using the part of Scripture that suits their
needs, they would find they can't use Scripture to hurt another, etc.

Truly, with God all things *are* possible.
I don't think the verse is *just* about wealth, nor *just* about
salvation. This section is about how possessions and prosperity can
easily shift our priorities, our focus, away from following the way of
Christ to following the way of creature comforts.
God knows human nature; he knows our hearts. The path of righteousness
-- the way of Christ -- is a hard one to follow for humans. In fact it
is impossible, given our human nature alone, to follow the Jesus'
commands. That is why we *need* God to come into our hearts to
strengthen us, to quietly guide us, that we might keep our priorities
straight. So with God it *is* possible for the camel to pass through
the needles eye.

| So it's possible for those who do not accept Jesus as God and savior to
attain salvation. And it's possible that the inerrant position is
wrong
Hmmmmm.... I like this passage.

Agreed. At the same time, I know how the teaching is easily dismissed by
good Christian people who believe there's no need to discard their wealth,
because they're not really attached to it. All things are possible with God,
making it unneccessary to do anything beyond bearing a mindset of Christian
spirituality and material detachment, they reason.

Agreed, again. All things are possible with God. Not all things are probable,
however. Is that not so?
