| Debbie:
Funny how it is. Sometimes, praying is wonderful and at other times it
is like dredging out of bed after five hours sleep!
I have varied in my methods. Sometimes, I make general prayer and
other times I pray for specific things. Sometimes I devote specific
days toward specific people or certain budens I have.

| I'm aweful when it comes to properly identifying NT passages, but I
believe Jesus said not to bother asking God for particular things
because he knows already what it is you need. Then he went on to
instruct his listeners on how to pray with the "Our Father".
And so, on those occasions when I catch myself praying for "this" or
"that", I quickly back off and then try to remember the "Our Father"
or a simple thought of "Just do what's right for me".
How about this translation....
"Our Father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name"
(Hi God)
"Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven"
(You're running the show)
"Give us this day our daily bread"
(I really appreciate all the neat gifts. Keep'em coming)
"And forgive us our trespasses as we fogive those who trespass against
us"
(Please try to overlook our major screw-ups, We'll try to do the same)
"Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil"
(And it'd be cool if you could give us a compass heading from time to
time, cuz we get lost a lot)
I only now realize how non-personal this prayer is. All the proniuns
are in the plural.
Hmmmmm....

| Well, I have to confess that my time in prayer is not a very disciplined
part of my life at the moment.

Well, that's a good attitude!
Bob
P.S. Perhaps I need a vacation -- when I saw "NT" above, I
thought it was in contrast to VMS or UNIX!

| "awful"... "aweful"... might have been one of those things where the
finger slips from the 'w' to the adjacent 'e'. A Freudian slip
perhaps? When you think of it, "awful" is probable the contracted
version of "aweful" anyway.
With regard with "NT" and "The NT", do you see any correlation?

| I typically read a chapter from the Bible, and the devotion for the day
from "My Utmost for His Highest" by Oswald Chambers, and then some
personal prayer time where the Father and I communicate some more.
