1190.0. "Why do some go unhealed?" by CSC32::J_CHRISTIE (Ps. 85.10) Wed Dec 06 1995 13:04

Mark 1:34 And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases,
and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak,
   because they knew him.

Mark 3:10 For he had healed many; insomuch that they pressed upon
him for to touch him, as many as had plagues.

Why didn't he heal all?

Shalom,
Richard

No answers from me, just a story. There is a lady in our parish who
has severe diabetes and arthritis, and a few other problems. Her
daughter (a 4 or 5 year old) learning about Jesus healing the sick and
cannot understand why Jesus doesn't heal her mother.

    For the Christian:

"...And not only this, but we also exult in our tribulations, knowing
that tribulation brings about perseverence; and perseverence, proven
character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint,
because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through
the Holy Spirit who was given to us." Romans 5:3

I believe the snippet from Romans refers to the tribulations of living
as a Christian in a non (or anti) Christian society. I believe it is
out of context to suggest it is referring to birth defects or other
    physical or emotional ailments.

I believe Roman 5:3 can be applicable to all kinds of tribulations.
No matter how bad the pains of the things that we struggle with,
struggle really does build character. Unfortunately it is those things
that are the most painful that require us to muster the greatest amount
of our own resources to meet that pain and challenge.

Theologically, the issue of pain and suffering is perhaps the most
difficult issue to reconcile. It is an issue that certainly tests our
    conception of Divinity!

Yes. Considering the church seems to be strongest when it is
persecuted. Kind of a bitter sweet sense I get thinking about it!

Of course, in my present situation especially, the question
is: "Are *any* healed? Does He heal *any*?"

    Hi Bob,

Do with this whatever you want. These are simply my thoughts.

When my son had one of his paroxysms of seizures that require
hospitalization, I felt like my chest was being ripped open.
It was during this time that I felt even more connected to
one and all and to God and felt love surround and emcompass
    me.

What happens with Nancy is out of our hands. However, if I
may venture a suggestion, you might try to be open to the
possibilities this may present to you. Perhaps this is what
some people refer to the "silver lining". I have no idea
what form this may take. But, with me, there always seems
to be something else going on underneath.

Remember, there's lots of folks rootin' for you. Some you
may not even be aware of.

    Tom
