1151.0. "Onward Christian Soldiers?" by GUIDUK::MCCANTA (another year, another 1040) Fri Sep 29 1995 14:36

    AP -
Randall Terry, founder of the anti-abortion Operation Rescue, has
founded a new organization and predicts armed conflict between
Christians and non-Christians. The new Christian Leadership Institute
is a "Christian retreat for male leaders that will generate fierce,
    militant, unmerciful warriors," he said.

The 119-acre farm in Windsor, N.Y., is currently holding its first
four-week training in September and October, wher these leaders are
being trained "to rebuild America's power bases on the foundations of
the Ten Commandments - tthat is a culture based on Biblical law."

I would like to add a sacartic, biting reply here, but my heart is too
heavy. Two ideas pop into my head.

    1) "My Kingdom is not of this earth" - why build a "Christian America"
when we really want a Christian eternity?

    2) Are we repeating the dark ages? Will religious purges become the
    norm again?

My thoughts exactly. Not to mention Matthew 6:33. Christians should
be doing battle on their knees, except where their personal safety is
violently threatened. I don't agree with those that are stockpiling
weapons and food in their mountain retreats.

> 2) Are we repeating the dark ages? Will religious purges become the
> norm again?

It's already started in Turkey, Iran and China. Albania has been doing
it for years. With the move towards globalism and ecumenism,
Christians are going to be perceived more uncooperative, intolerant,
and obstructive than they are now. I firmly believe that we will
experience some of the world's tribulations before the Great
    Tribulation kicks in.

I know he has a program on the Christian Radio station to which I listen..
I just might write them a letter and express my concern over the continued
 presence of his program.

typical Randall Terry to me. It only demonstrates to me how man has
perverted the teachings of his proclaimed prophet and savior.

Cindy, at least you only have to deal with one of these kinds of
    organizations in your hometown.

Meg, raised at Ground Zero in a far more tolerant time.

Is that "man" as in man, or "man" as in MAN?

There are far too MANy implications here!

I wonder if Dan Berrigan will continue to stand with Randall Terry.

My God! another utopia minded zealot. Jonestown, K.Davidians and
now this jerk. Tough thing to react to though, ya know? I mean if you
ignore him, he's free to build his army. If you attempt to squash him,
he's going to cry religious discrimination and rally followers behind,
what was it, the Ten Commandments. Desperate people do desperate
    things I guess.
