Never heard of them. How about a bit more info on their "shtick"?

| I've seen John Jacobs and the Power Team on TV. These guys
are similar to the sideshow muscle men in circuses in the
physical feats that they do. Throughout their show, as they
wow their audience with their abilities, they tell about
how each of their lives have been turned around (from drugs,
gangs, crime, etc.) because they turned their lives to Jesus.
They aren't really a scriptural-based ministry as far as I
saw. They simply had a general "Turn your lives to Jesus"
message, and their show seemed geared more to the youth.

as TBN.

So, kind of a Christian answer to power rangers or one of those things?

| No, not power rangers at all. They do no fighting, and in fact
speak against it. They do things like bend iron bars with their
teeth and blow up hot water bottles and break concrete bricks
with their heads. Stuff like that.

Well, that oughta lead a lot of kids to Christ!

re: -1
Before you go judging you need to watch the program.
Yes, they do a bunch of amazing 'tricks' based on their physical
strength but state loud and clear that their physical strength
is nothing without the LORD (over and over again).
Hey, if that type of presentation saves one soul it is worth it.

I wasn't judging. I get concerned when Christianity modifies some worldly
entertainment form and attaches a Christian message to it, particulalry
when many times the message is watered down and hard to find. Perhaps
I was harsh in my comment.

| breaking bricks with your head for the Lord is a sure-fire way to win
souls for Christ.

Mike and Jim,
I appreciate your efforts to be 'watchmen'. However, I do encourage
you to not forget to also look for the 'positiveness' in people's
efforts to minister.
Your idea and my idea of what works in a ministry may not work for
others.
I was at the Harvest Crusade light night. It was freezing
cold, snow on the ground. And the program was abbreviated due to
the cold. (The sound was a little off, the stage was a long ways
away, there were only a few hundred present). The poor folks who came
in from California to put on the crusade were certainly stressed
because of the physical circumstances.
Yet, the Lord chose to exercise His grace and mercy even in these rather
unpleasant physical surroundings. Many stood at the end and accepted
the Lord as their Savior.
Would this have worked for me a few years ago? Probably not. Would it
have worked for my neighbor? Maybe, maybe not. But, the fact is, the
Lord can and will work in whatever circumstances HE chooses, whether
we think the 'venue' is appropriate or not.
Why not REJOICE for those who are saved--regardless of the venue in
which it occurred! REJOICE for those who perceive they have a
particular ministry and are responding in obedience even though it
may seem a little funky! (I have found many opportunities to share
my love of the Lord while shoveling horse manure with someone.) Great
place to share the Lord's love, eh?
I encourage all of us to not put our limits on what the Lord is capable
of.
Ephesians 4:29 -- Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of
your mouths." but only what is helpful for building others up according
to THEIR needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
Ciao.

| Remember, too, that this is not intended to be a theology or a
specific religion. It is intended to be motivational.
Inspirational. Thought-provoking. It is meant to induce
self-examination. Please don't expect everything to be more
than it intends to be.

| Mary Jo, the difference between Greg Laurie and John Jacobs is that you
know where they stand.
btw - the Harvest in Anaheim was tremendous! Over 22,000 saved over
that weekend. We're having our own local version Sunday night in
Phoenix. The 7 or so Calvary Chapels in the metro area will be running
it. My pastor will be giving the invitation.
