1120.0. "Sandi Patty" by CSC32::J_CHRISTIE (Ps. 85.10) Tue Aug 01 1995 19:08

No, Jack, Sandi Patty is not what you get from dropping your hamburger
on the beach. Sandi Patty is a fine soprano, probably best known for her
Christian music.

I was blessed to have given to us two tickets to the Sandi Patty concert
at Sky Sox (minor league baseball) Stadium in Colorado Springs last Friday
evening, July 28.

Accompanied by the Colorado Springs Symphony, this was a pops concert, not
a Christian concert specifically. Perhaps this is why she was able to
include songs extolling the virtues of wishing upon a star ["When You Wish
Upon a Star," from Disney's Pinnochio] and a belief in magic carpets ["A
Whole New World (Order?! ;-})," from Disney's Aladdin]. Surely these would
be offensive to the more Fundamentalist faction.

Ms. Patty did include "How Great Thou Art" and several other Christian
favorites.

Shalom,
Richard

Sometimes, Richard, your fundamentalist sniping is merely
tiring. This one was downright stupid.

If you meant to just yank chains, I stand successfully-yanked.

    Richard:

You have set a paradigm in your mind regarding this type of thing.

I appreciate a fruity Chablis once in awhile and I appreciate most
kinds of music. Went to a Chicago concert 7 years ago and got two Paul
McCartney tickets when he did his American Tour. Great to hear the old
    songs again.

I appreciate good solid song writing and singing. In fact, I have a
few Sandi Patti tapes and am moved by much of her music. If you get
the inkling, I would strongly recommend Sandy Patti Live. She does an
excellect imitation of Karen Carpenter and Barbara Streisand (quite
humerous), but a few of the songs are quite moving...particularly We
Sahll Behold Him and Upon this Rock!

Yes, Jack. Sandi Patty did do her Karen Carpenter/Barbara Streisand
vocal styling exaggerations, to the tune "Jesus Loves Me." (Surrealistic,
when you think about it)

My wife and I enjoyed the concert. I'm not sure I'd be willing to
pay the price of tickets were it to come out of my own pocket. But
then, I probably wouldn't be willing to shell out the money for tickets
to a Paul McCartney concert either.

Perhaps you are not among those who are offended by heathen notions
found in some song lyrics. Perhaps you consider them merely fanciful.
I know I do.

At the same time, I know parents who prohibit their children from seeing
"Snow White" and "The Wizard of Oz." I did say "the *more* Fundamentalist
faction," you know.

Did you think I was singling you out? Reminds me of a song recorded by
Carly Simon and Mick Jagger.

I didn't think you were referring to me...I just wanted you to know
that I still enjoy all kinds of music...and I consider myself a
    fundamentalist for the most part.

Even though there are some people like Streisand who because of her
political views should be prohibited from reproducing, I believe she
has one of the most beautiful voices in music. Tongue firmly in
cheek!) I have an appreciation for Jazz and bands with alot of brass.
I have a collection of albums from a variety of different
musicians. I do believe that parents should become involved in the
    music their children listen too....sure!

Sandi Patti.......her Christian music with her beautiful voice has
brought me where I am today "spiritually". I would rather listen to
Sandi than any other vocalist singing for the Lord. If anyone has any
doubt about her God given gift........listen to her sing.
