Sharon and I met at the Friends Meeting in Phoenix, Arizona. A Friends
Meeting, for those who are unfamiliar, is a term for a gathering and
corporate worship of the Religious Society of Friends (Quaker).

Also see 372.1.

Shalom,
Richard

I'll start. When I was attending college back in 1985, Michele was on
staff with Campus Crusade for Christ. She found her ministry over a
ten year period full of trials and blessings. By the time we met, she
was in the 9 year mark and was ready to leave the ministry and start a
family. Fortunately, her and I thought alike. At one of the meetings
I asked her out and lo and behold, she said YES!!!

5 months later we were engaged! Talk about moving fast!

Double whammy...I didn't get to start and there's already a string on
    this!

    Not a deliberate whammy, Jack.

    ;-}

I, for one, genuinely appreciate your attempt to create a greater sense
of community here in C-P through initiating such a topic.

    Shalom,
    Richard

So, Jack. Did Michele ever have occasion to meet Bill Bright while on
    the staff of CCC?

Actually yes. Michele actually had the opportunity to go to Bill and
Vonette Brights home on a few occasions. This was in the early days
when she first joined staff. She was on staff training and the Brights
invited her and about 40 others to their home in the San Bernadino
Valley. She also got to meet with him some years later at the
Institute of Biblical Studies, CSU in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Michele also spent a whole plane trip from Boston to California sitting
next to Dotty McDowell, wife of Josh McDowell. At the time she was new
on staff and wasn't real familiar with Josh McDowell's teaching and
    prominence in Campus Crusade.

One thing Campus Crusade did for her is give her a broader vision of
God. Don't worry about keeping up with the Joneses (No Pun Intended
    :-) ).

    In Christ,

I enjoy telling the story of how my wife and I met. I had just moved
from southern Cal to Atlanta in 1986 with the express purpose of
finding a wife and she had to be of southern breeding.

Not knowing specifically about the churches to be found in Atlanta I
went to one I had heard of - First Baptist of Atlanta. I had seen
Charles Stanley on television. Of course I was leaving one of the
finest congregations and some of the finest preaching in the world
    - Evangelical Free Church of Fullerton (CA) whose pastor was
    none other than Charles Swindoll.

Anyway, I strode into First Baptist which is huge! and beautiful and
very brightly lit since each sermon is taped for broadcast. I picked a
spot and sat down. I was a few minutes early so people were milling
around getting seated. Soon someone was tapping on my shoulder. I
turned around to this beautiful young lady who asked me if I knew where
the Sunday School was held. I said that I didn't since it was my first
time too. I told her we could find it together after the service if
she liked. I turned back around. I thought for a minute about how
attractive she was and what a strong southern accent she had and then
turned around again and asked her if I could come back and sit with
her. She agreed. This was in February of '86. We were engaged in
November of '86 and married in May of '87. We've now had four children
together. It's amazing to consider the blessings of all that happens
    by "chance"!

My wife of 25 years met during a softball game. Both of us were dating
someone else at the time. We happened to break up with them at the same
time and I decided to ask her out. We dated off/on during the time of my
military service stunt. After being discharged from the USAF we were
married 6/20/70.

.9 Jerry,

Were you both spectators or players? Just curious, that's all.

Peace,
Richard

We were both players. She happened to play against two of my sisters in the
Championship game. She was a good friend of my sister.
My wife and I still play ball on our church team. We have reduced the number of
times and teams we played on down to one. It's more fun and fellowship now.
