1054.0. "St. Valentine's Day (SRO)" by CSC32::J_CHRISTIE (Unquenchable fire) Sat Feb 11 1995 14:12

Tuesday is St. Valentine's Day. According to my calendar (which
came from a local florist) Valentine's Week began last Wednesday!

I arranged for the Valentine card I sent my wife to be postmarked
from Loveland, Colorado, and I bought her a small gift of jewelry. I also
purchased a "Prisoner of Love" coffee mug for her which, if the weather
clears, I hope to have filled with a nosegay of flowers.

I'm giving my son Valentine M&M peanut candies. A heart-shaped
sachet was mailed off to my step-daughter attending college.

What do you have planned for Valentine's Day or Week?

What do you do if you have no one to celebrate with?

Shalom,
Richard

Holy Apostles Church will be this year's site of the annual
ecumenical World Marriage Day celebration at 2PM on Sunday, Feb 12.

Among the various speakers will be Dr. Paul Peel from First
Lutheran Church, Rabbi Howard Hirsch from Temple Shalom,
and Deacon Mike Celetti from the Catholic Diocese of Colorado
Springs, all telling what their various organizations are
doing to promote and strengthen marriage. Catholic Bishop
Richard Hanifen will also be participating, as well as
representatives from Worldwide Marriage Encounter, Sunrise
United Methodist Church, a chaplain from Peterson Air Force
Base, and music will be provided by the Fellowship Bible
    	Church singers.

During the service, programs will be provided for children
of all ages -- including free nursery service for ages
    	newborn to 5 years.

We will also have a short rite to symbolically renew vows for
all couples attending, as well as recognition of the longest-
married couple with flowers and a dinner to a local restaurant.

Reception will follow, including the awarding of savings bonds
to the winners of the World Marriage Day poster contest, and
the awarding of a free Marriage Encounter weekend in 1995.
