Some folks do something on a routine basis after their worship hour. It may be joining family or friends for brunch. It may be visiting shut-ins at home or in the hospital, perhaps even providing respite care. What is your after-church tradition, if you have one? Shalom, Richard

The tradition at our congregation is to have a coffee hour after worship. Often the coffee hour and fellowship lasts longer than the worship. Patricia

By the time our service is over, everyone is hungry and tired. We have basically a one room church, so things have to be done asyncronously. First the service (a little over an hour), then the children's choir rehersal (about 15 minutes), then children's Sunday school (about 45 minutes to an hour). Then clean up. All in all, I'm at the church about 3-4 hours. No, the times I just listed don't add up to 3 hours, but there's space between tasks, and I usually arrive early to do set up. Debby

In the summer, when the weather's nice, I like to stroll around downtown (the Acacia Park vicinity) Colorado Springs after church. Sometimes I browse the bookstores or enjoy a time of comtemplation over a cup of coffee at one of the area cafes. It used to be that we'd pick up doughnuts on the way home from church. I sometimes wondered if we were simply rewarding ourselves for sitting through the service. :-) Shalom, Richard |
