1010.0. "God as victim" by CSC32::J_CHRISTIE (Okeley-dokeley, Neighbor!) Fri Nov 25 1994 16:08
"As a Christian, reflecting on the Cross has helped me to understand
some of what I've experienced. Maybe it is the only image that makes any sense
in light of Rwanda. Through the suffering of Christ, God is there, present
during the worst evils, even to the bitter end.
This belief keeps me from pinning the blame on God for human crimes.
Believing in God's omnipotence, I often mistakenly deduce God's complicity
in crimes against humanity because of God's failure to stop them. I tend
to forget that, although God's omnipresence puts God at the scene of every
crime, God is there not as killer or conspirator but as victim. I know this
because of Christ."
