| One of two things, sje either rejects the deity of Christ or she will
not submit to the lordship of Christ. In other words, she is not
willing to give every aspect of her life to him. Not every part of her
life is Christ centered. I admire her for her honesty. I just hope,
like all of us, she will have a change of heart!

| Jack I don't think its either..
When you accept Jesus as Lord, you are accepting as ruler, master of
your life [is this what you meant by Lordship?]. She was wanting the
benefits of Salvation without the surrender.

short story, My Heart Christ's Home?

| I think it means that the worldview of Lords and Kings and hierarchical
structures and distant authoritarian parental figures for God are no
longer relevent for a egalitarian democratic society.
I think it means that since the strong, authoritarian Father and strong
authoritarian King were the cultural norms of the day, that is how
divinity was imaged.
Today we know leadership is much more tender, loving, charismatic. My
antrhropomorphic image of the divine is the image of a wonderful,
honest committed friend and comrade. One who inspires me to goodness
by example and by seeing the potential goodness in me and giving me
faith, hope, and belief in that goodness. A divine who inspires me to
be the best I can be not by the fear of punishment if I fall, but by
creating the ideal and encouraging me toward that ideal. A Divine who
accepts that I will not always live up to that image of Goodness and
accepts me and loves me even when I fall short without ever making my
human limitations an excuse for not aiming toward the ideal.
I guess I too can say I accept Jesus as a savior in that regard and not
a lord.

| Patricia,
I look at it this way. Someone can save you and
not be a ruler over you. This same aspect applies to Christians. You
can accept Jesus as your savior but not allow him to be Lord of your
life.

Do you believe that God desires our worship?

..That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those who are in heaven,
and on the earth, and under the earth and that EVERY tongue should confess
that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the Glory of God the Father.
Phillipians 2:9-10
One day we will ALL confess Christ as saviour and Lord, from one perspective
or another. Though, of course, there are some who don't take the Bible at
its word.

What do you feel the comment "Jesus is Lord" means to you?

| I believe God desires our love.
To love God is to worship God.
Some of the images of God and or Jesus that are powerful to me are
Shepherd,
Servant-Jesus washing the disciples feet
Light
Wrestler i.e. Jacob wrestling with God
Living water
Cloud
Burning Bush
I Am
Image of Jesus at Getsemene
Image of Jesus with the Children
Jesus as Healer
Father
Mother
Womb
Creator
Divine Wisdom/God as Wise Woman
Love
I tend to think of salvation in terms of the above images. I accept
Jesus as savior in that respect. I also have other not specifically
biblical images.
Jesus as Archetype of the perfect human being
Jesus as role model
God as Mentor
Each of these images accepts the authority of the divine. Each points
to a basis of authority that is gentle and loving. Each of these are
images of God that motivate me to want to be the best I can be. Yes I
do have a problem with the all powerful dictatorial power figure. I
do not value the dictatorial power figure so I do not image God in that
way. I do believe that all images of God are just images and therefore
the particular images that we choose tell us as much about ourselves as
about God.
The thing that I find wonderful about the Bible is that it offers
hundreds of images of God for us to choose from. Lord is just one of
those images offered. The importance of the image is that the image
motivates us to Love God with all our heart, soul, and mind and to love
our neighbors as ourselves.
I personally am not motivated by fear, toughness, or dominant styles of
authority. I am motivated by love, kindness, acceptance, affirmation,
and nuturance.

Not to be a smarta**, but, that doesn't tell me anything. I hear many
Christian's say the same, but, what does it mean to you?
To be, it doesn't mean a thing concrete.
That doesn't mean that I don't accept the teachings of Jesus.
