828.0. "Son of Man, the Human One" by CSC32::J_CHRISTIE (On loan from God) Sun Jan 16 1994 00:02
Daniel 7:13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, [one] like the
Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the
Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.
This is one of the verses frequently cited as prophesying a future Messiah.
Though the expression "Son of man" generally meant a human being, Jesus
often used it self-referentially. Elsewhere in the New Testament the
term is used to refer to Christ specifically:
Acts 7:56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son
of man standing on the right hand of God.
Revelation 1:13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks [one] like
unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot,
and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.
Revelation 14:14 And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the
cloud [one] sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a
golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.
Peace,
Richard

| .0 I forgot to add that "Ancient of days" in the Daniel verse
refers to God. True to apocalyptic form, Daniel employs the use
of symbolism and "code."
